“I was worried your stomach might act up tonight, so I brought you something to cat,” Mia said, holding the takeout box carefully in both hands and offering it to Quinn.
A warm feeling melted in Quinn’s heart. She took the takeout, patted Mia’s shoulder gently, her eyes filled with gratitude. “You’re such a thoughtful kid,” she said, pausing for a moment.
“Wait a second. Your place is pretty far from this hotel. I don’t feel right letting you head back alone this late. Stay here tonight! We can talk about the projects while we’re at it.”
Mia had been about to refuse, but her eyes lit up the second she heard Quinn’s last words.
The company had been rushing to develop several new projects lately-each one had taken countless hours of hard work from everyone.
Right now, those projects were in the patent application stage, and they were also negotiating usage rights with partners. Every step was crucial; there was no room for mistakes.
Mia nodded, her face beaming with excitement and anticipation. “Absolutely, Miss Hart. I’ve been wanting to update you on the latest progress of the projects anyway.”
Quinn smiled, stepped aside, and made a gesture of invitation. “Come in. We’ll take our time talking”
She set the takeout on a nearby table, pulled Mia to sit on the sofa, her gaze focused and serious -ready to discuss the project details with Mia and map out plans for the company’s future development.
Quinn held an exquisite bowl, sipping the warm stomach-soothing oatmeal one small spoonful at a time. The warm oatmeal slid down her throat slowly, chasing away some of her tiredness. She listened quietly as Mia gave a clear, well-organized report.
“Miss Hart, while you’ve been away from the company, Mr. Cole has been completely wrapped up in spending time with Lila. He’s turned down several important projects in a row. The senior directors found our about it, and they’re all pretty upset-they’ve been talking behind his back nonstop.”
Mia frowned slightly, her tone laced with concern.
Quinn set down the bowd gently, nodded thoughtfully, a complex look flickering in her eyes.
She’d gone home to handle some things related to the arranged marriage, thinking she’d be back soon. She never imagined Felix would be so impatient, acting so recklessly. It was like he was deliberately driving the company into the ground, eager to hand it over to someone else.

toward the inner suite. Before going in, she turned her head and casually told Mia to turn off her phone too.
Mia was still in a daze, not fully understanding what was going on, when a sudden, urgent ringtone broke the silence.
She glanced at the caller ID-it was Lila.
Mia didn’t even frown. She hung up the call without hesitation, then pressed the power button firmly, shutting the phone off completely.
That night, both of them slept incredibly soundly-no dreams, just pure peace.
On the other hand, Lila and Felix were like cats on a hot tin roof. They tossed and turned in the villa, unable to sleep, suffering terribly.
