Chapter 13 A Reckless Announcement
Early morning in the villa.
Lila rubbed her sleepy eyes, shuffling down the stairs lazily.

As soon as she stepped into the living room, she saw Felix slouched on the sofa, his head hanging low. He looked completely drained, like all the life had been sucked out of him.
A knot tightened in Lila’s stomach. She hurried over, taking the stairs two at a time, and sat down next to him. Her eyes were filled with concern, her voice soft yet urgent. “Felix, did you stay up all night?”
“Quinn is being so unreasonable. She hurt you, and now she’s stayed out all night. I hope she didn’t… Lila trailed off deliberately, a cunning glint in her eyes, a small smile playing on her lips-leaving the rest to his imagination.
As she spoke, she stole glances at Felix out of the corner of her eye, watching his reaction closely.
Felix’s brows were furrowed tight, his face dark enough to storm.
Lila’s heart skipped a beat. She quickly changed her tone, putting on a sympathetic act. “But Quinn is probably just throwing a fit. Still, it’s not good for a girl to stay out all night.”
“Enough. Go back to rest,” Felix snapped, his patience wearing thin.
He forced himself to stay on the sofa for a few more minutes, then got up and headed to the company. His face remained dark the entire drive, the atmosphere in the car so tense it was hard to breathe.
When he arrived at the company, Felix marched straight to Mia’s desk.
Mia was buried in paperwork. She looked up at the sound of footsteps and froze when she saw Felix’s angry face.
“Where is Quinn?” Felix asked coldly, his voice oozing with authority that brooked no
argument.
Mia hesitated. She’d promised Quinn not to reveal her whereabouts, but Felix’s menacing look scared her. After a moment’s struggle, she forced herself to reply, “Miss Hart… she’s on a business trip.”
Felix’s anger flared up instantly. He slammed his fist on the desk, roaring. “A business trip? She’s just hiding from me!” Mia jumped in fright, bowing her head and daring not to say a word.

He turned and walked back to his office, immediately summoning his assistant. He ordered coldly, “Leak the news. Say I’m getting engaged-to Lila. I want Quinn to know that hiding from me will only make her regret it.”
The assistant hesitated, asking cautiously. “Mr. Cole, isn’t this a bit impulsive? What about Miss Hart…?”
“Do as I say!” Felix cut him off sharply. The assistant didn’t dare argue further, nodding quickly and rushing out.
Felix sat in his office chair, rubbing his temples. His eyes showed a hint of exhaustion and helplessness.
He’d wanted to talk to Quinn calmly, but her avoidance had made him lose his senses.

“Hello…” Quinn’s voice came softly through the line, like a breeze rippling across a quiet lake, with a hint of imperceptible emotion.
“I saw the news. I guess he’s marrying his so-called ‘good sister. But none of this matters to me anymore.”
Her tone was calm and indifferent, as if she was talking about something that had nothing to do
with her.
The man on the other end sighed.
It was a sigh like autumn leaves falling-tinged with helplessness and heaviness.
“Maybe this is for the best. Now you can finally move on.
“Dad was furious when he heard the news. He wanted to storm over there and punch that jerk right away.”
