Chapter 15 Deliberate Provocation
Finished
“If you have nothing to do right now, leave. I still have a ton of work to finish,” Quinn said coldly.
Felix’s anger flared up instantly at her icy attitude.
He strode forward, swept his arm across the desk, and sent everything crashing to the floor with a loud clatter.
“Am I really less important than a bunch of papers?” he roared.
His voice was filled with uncontrollable anger and disappointment. “That engagement news was just a trick to get you to come back! Do you have any idea how worried I was when you stayed out all night yesterday?
“And who were you with last night? Why did you turn off your phone?”
He fired off questions one after another, his eyes blazing with accusation and confusion.
The atmosphere in the office turned tense and suffocating in an instant, as if a storm was about to hit.
Quinn slowly lifted her eyes, her gaze drifting past Felix’s shoulder to the sneaky figure lingering behind him.
She didn’t need to think twice to know who it was.
A cold smile tugged at her lips. She asked softly, “Felix, are you really trying to tell me you still have feelings for me? What about Lila? How do you think she’ll feel?”
“I’ve told you a million times—she’s just my sister! Her mom did me a huge favor, so I feel responsible for taking care of her,” Felix explained irritably.
“Does Lila know that?” Quinn pressed on, stepping closer.
Felix hesitated for a moment, then finally spoke, “She’s in poor health and can’t handle stress. We all try to accommodate her. Is that really so hard to understand?”
Felix looked completely confused, as if he couldn’t grasp the complexity of the situation.
He couldn’t figure out why there was such a big rift between them.
One was his so-called sister, the other was the woman he loved deeply. Why couldn’t they just get along?

Quinn kept stepping forward until she was right in front of him. She leaned in, her voice a whisper in his ear. “Two people who aren’t even blood-related-can’t you see how she feels. about you? Or are you so caught up in this ambiguous vibe that you don’t want to let go?”
Felix’s face turned pale as if she’d hit a nerve. He shouted angrily, “Enough! Quinn, stop polluting our relationship with your dirty thoughts!”
Quinn stepped back two paces, her gaze shifting to Lila at the door.
Lila’s eyes were red, one hand covering her mouth, tears streaming down her face like broken beads.
Quinn spoke coldly, “Miss Carter, you heard him. Felix has no feelings for you at all. He’s nice to you only because you’re sick. The person he really wants to marry has always been me. How does that make you feel?”
Felix spun around suddenly. He saw Lila clutching her chest, stumbling backward before turning and running out.
In that moment, it hit him. Quinn’s sharp words had been deliberate-she’d done it on
purpose.
Just then, there was a soft knock on the door. Mia’s voice came cautiously, “Miss Hart, the directors are here.”
“I know. I’ll be right there,” Quinn replied quickly.
She straightened her clothes briefly, calming the emotions that had been stirred up by the
argument.
She turned and walked out of the office with firm steps, each one showing her resolve and professionalism.
Mia followed behind her, her eyes filled with concern and worry.
She watched Quinn’s face, trying to spot any hint of emotion.
But Quinn’s expression was perfectly calm, as if the argument had never happened.
Quinn’s office door had been left open the entire time, so the sound of their quarrel had inevitably drifted out into the hallway.
