Quinn instantly understood what Iris meant. Everything she did was for the company.
“Alright, alright. If I handed the company over to him, I should trust him,” Iris said with a sigh. “Deep down, I’m proud of him. In most ways, he’s even better than I was.”
“He’s so calm and steady. No matter what happens, he always finds a way to fix it,” she added, her voice softening.
Iris truly admired Peyton’s work ethic. She never would’ve given him control of the company otherwise. Still, she couldn’t help but worry-old habits die hard, especially when the company had been her whole life.
Even at her age, that business was still close to her heart.
“Don’t worry. We should have faith in him,” Quinn said gently.
Her heart ached a little as she thought about Peyton. She’d seen him working day and night these past few days, looking thinner and more tired than ever.
If it weren’t for her, he might not be going through all this. But there was no use dwelling on the past-she couldn’t change what had already happened.
Time passed quickly, and the day of Iris’ discharge finally arrived. Her condition had stabilized nicely over the past few days, so the doctor gave them the green light to take her home.
They had a private doctor at home, so Iris would still get proper care even after leaving the hospital.
Iris had been cooped up in the hospital long enough. She was more than ready to go home.
Peyton still had a mountain of work waiting for him at the company, but he’d pushed everything back to make time for his grandma’s discharge. He wouldn’t miss this for the world.
Seeing everyone come to pick her up made Iris’ heart warm, though she tried to play it off. “I know you’re all busy with work. You didn’t have to come all the way here. We have plenty of people at home to help.”
“It’s the least we can do,” Quinn said, beaming. “Today’s a happy day-you’re going home! We should all have a family dinner to celebrate.”
She’d felt guilty ever since Iris had been hospitalized. Now that Iris was finally better, a huge weight lifted off her shoulders.
“Wonderful idea! I already told the chef at home to prepare a big meal,” Iris said, her eyes lighting up. She loved spending time with the younger generation, especially when the whole family was together.
Everyone was so busy with work these days that getting together for a meal was rare. Iris cherished these
moments.
If she hadn’t gotten sick, they probably wouldn’t have come back to the Reed Manor with her. She wanted to savor every second of their company.

Chapter 150 Let Things Happen Naturally
On the way back, Quinn sat right next to Iris.

“Quinn, you two are already engaged and going strong,” Iris said, taking Quinn’s hand. “You should start thinking about having a baby soon.”
“You can see my health’s failing. Who knows how much longer I have? My only wish in this life is to hold my great-grandchild,” she added solemnly.
Iris had been wanting to bring this up for a long time, but she’d been too shy to say it outright before-only hinting at it occasionally. Today, she meant business.
“Iris, young people these days think differently,” Eleanor chipped in, trying to defuse the situation. “They’re swamped with work. Having a baby isn’t on their radar right now. Let’s not pressure them.”
“We’d be thrilled if they decided to have a baby, but if not, that’s okay too. No need to make them feel stressed,” she added, glancing at Quinn reassuringly.
Eleanor was only thinking about Peyton and Quinn-especially Quinn. She’d never talked to Quinn about having children, so she had no idea what her thoughts were. But no matter what, she would never force them.
“I know you young folks value your freedom,” Iris said, not backing down. “But if you have a baby, everyone will help take care of it. You won’t have to lift a finger. I’ll even hire the best nanny for my great-grandchild!”
All Iris wanted was to see the next generation-to watch Peyton, Quinn, and their baby live happily together. That would be her greatest joy, her final regret gone.
“Iris, that’s easier said than done,” Eleanor argued gently. “They’re the parents. Once that baby is born, do you really think they won’t want to be involved?” She kept trying to reason with Iris.
“Mrs. Iris Reed, I know you’re doing this for us-wanting us to have a baby to make our marriage complete,” Quinn said softly. “But we’re really swamped right now. Let’s just let things happen naturally, okay?”
