“Mrs. Reed, I’ll leave you alone. Rest well,” Quinn said gently. She knew Iris was overwhelmed and needed. time to process. With that, she turned and left the room!

“How’s Grandma feeling?” Peyton asked, concern in his voice. “Her face looked terrible earlier. Should I call the family doctor?”

“No need,” Quinn replied calmly. “Her mood has stabilized, and her color is better after taking the medicine. She needs to calm down alone. Let’s not disturb her.”

“This has nothing to do with you anymore!” Donna snapped, her attitude turning hostile. “You’re not part of this family now. Get out. You’re not welcome here!”

“Whether we leave or not is none of your business,” Quinn shot back. “You have no right to order us around. So what if he’s not biologically related? He’s lived here for years and given so much to this family. And I’m Peyton’s fiancée. This is my home too.”

“I’m warning you, cut the nonsense,” Eleanor said firmly “Iris knows exactly how much Peyton has done for this family. Discovering the truth doesn’t change that.”

Even if Donna had uncovered their secret, Eleanor refused to back down. She wasn’t going to let Donna push them around.

“You betrayed this family!” Donna yelled. “Whatever he did before, he did because he thought he belonged here. Now he doesn’t!”

“Don’t say I didn’t warn you-leave soon,” she threatened. “Iris’ health is fragile enough. Do you want to make her sick again? Stop pushing her!”

Donna spoke with confidence. In the past, she would have never dared to talk so boldly-she needed Peyton to run the company. But now, with the truth out, she was certain the company would soon be hers. She wasn’t going to let an outsider keep it.

“Mom, Grandma needs rest,” Peyton said, pulling Eleanor back. “Let’s stop arguing and go home.”

Peyton spoke quietly. He was still reeling from the shock and didn’t know how to handle the situation. But he knew they needed to leave first and figure things out later.

The three of them-Peyton, Quinn, and Eleanor-returned to their home in silence. Peyton didn’t say a word the entire drive.

Once they arrived, Eleanor finally spoke up, her voice trembling with regret. “Peyton, don’t blame me. I really wanted to keep you. I was so young back then. I couldn’t go against my mother’s wishes. Your grandmother would have never approved.”

“I had no choice,” she continued. “You were already thre months old when I found out I was pregnant. I thought about telling your father, but I was too scared. The Reeds are different from other families-they would have never accepted this.”

“That’s why your father and I never got along,” she admited. “We were never right for each other. It was an arranged marriage-I had no say in it.”

“I never forced you to marry anyone,” she said softly. “I didn’t want you to suffer like I did. I thought this secret would stay buried forever. I never imagined it would come out like this.”

Eleanor looked devastated. The final decision rested with Iris. If Iris agreed to let them stay, their lives could go back to normal. She knew Iris was a sentimental person-her bond with Peyton was like real grandmother and grandson, blood or not.

“Mom, we have to respect Grandma’s decision,” Peyton said firmly. “If she wants me to leave the Reed family, I’ll give up everything.”
