“Perfectly normal. They’re all just out for their own interests,” Kieran said, leaning back in his chair. “You need to watch your back, though. Don’t let them gang up on you and force you out. That’d put you in a terrible spot. And make sure they don’t pull any sneaky stuff behind your back. Be extra careful these days.”

Kieran had been around the block long enough to know how these guys operated. He had to warn Peyton.

“Don’t worry. I know how to handle it,” Peyton replied coolly. “I’ve already got people keeping tabs on their every move-figuring out what they’re planning next.”

Peyton’s position had never been easy to hold onto. He had to use some unconventional methods to get where he was today.

He had every single one of them under surveillance. He also knew his uncle hadn’t been sitting idle. Harold had been schmoozing with the board members nonstop trying to trade company favors for their loyalty. His endgame? To push Peyton out and step into the top spot himself.

Peyton had known about this scheme for a while. Harold had hesitated to make his move before, but now? He had no reservations left.

“Alright, enough about work,” Kieran said, clapping his hands together. “We’re here to eat, so let’s enjoy ourselves. It’s not every day the three of us get to sit down together like this.”

Kieran figured work talk was a total buzzkill right now. He changed the subject, eager to lighten the mood.

Quinn had eaten with them countless times before, but sharing a meal with her brother always made her feel warm and fuzzy inside. It gave her a sense of security, knowing he was there.

“Hey, Kieran,” Quinn piped up, grinning. “When are you gonna bring a girlfriend home for us to meet?”

“Soon. Real soon,” Kieran said, a soft smile tugging at his lips. He’d actually come here today hoping to share that exact news with them.

Quinn’s eyes went wide with shock. Kieran had never breathed a word about this before. Kieran was picky- super picky. The thought of him settling down with someone felt almost surreal.

“Really? You’re not messing with me?” she asked, leaning forward in her seat. “Since when do you have a girlfriend? You never said anything about her!”

“Mom and Dad have been so wrapped up in your life lately, they haven’t had time to pester me about mine.” Kieran explained with a chuckle. “I’ve been chasing her for ages, though. She just said yes recently. I didn’t tell you earlier because things were still up in the air. Bu now? I know she’s the one. I’ll definitely bring her around so you two can meet her.”

Kieran’s voice was casual, but his eyes lit up with tender ess when he talked about his girlfriend. It was clear he was head over heels in love.

“Then we have to meet her ASAP! You have to set something up,” Quinn said, bouncing in her seat with excitement. She couldn’t wait to meet the woman who’d finally managed to capture her brother’s heart.

“Deal. She’s staying nearby these days. I’ll arrange a get-together soon,” Kieran agreed readily, no hesitation

in his voice.

“Then it’s a promise!” Quinn said, beaming.

Peyton watched Kieran from the side, a small smile playing on his lips. The soft, loving look in Kieran’s eyes said it all-he’d definitely found the right person. No one would look at someone like that unless they were truly smitten.

By the time they finished dinner, it was already late. They headed back to Peyton and Quinn’s place together. Kieran had originally planned to book a hotel oom-he didn’t want to intrude on their privacy.

But Quinn had refused to hear it. She’d missed her brother and didn’t want him to stay somewhere else. Reluctantly, Kieran had given in and gone home with them.

The next morning.

Quinn woke up to an empty house. Peyton and Kieran were already gone, off to the company to tackle the day’s work.

She sighed softly, shaking her head. They were both swamped lately, that much was obvious.
