“You might be onto something,” Quinn admitted, sighing. “People like that are good at putting on a mask. But you saw how head-over-heels Kieran is. He’s completely smitten.”

She let out a helpless breath. To verify Peyton’s hunch, he knew they needed to meet Hazel again-spend more time with her, get a better sense of her true personality.

“Kieran’s a smart guy,” Peyton said. “But love makes people blind. That’s where you come in, as his sister. You’re the one who has to keep an eye out for him. Some things only you can say to him.

“Look, if she’s a good match for him at his core, a few lile secrets won’t matter. But I’ve already asked someone to look into her background these next few days.”

His voice was calm as he spoke. He cared deeply about heran, and their bond meant he had to help Kieran see the truth.

He just couldn’t act too rashly without evidence.

“Alright,” Quinn said, nodding firmly. “I’ll make time to meet up with her this week. I’ll dig around subtly, figure out what kind of person she really is.”

Her heart was a jumble of emotions. She didn’t know what to say, or how to face Kieran and Hazel now.
