Chapter 20 The Deal Falls Apart

Maxon Group had been growing rapidly in recent years-easily outpacing Cole Group.

“Mr. Cole, long time no see,” Ethan Lewis said.

“Mr. Lewis, a pleasure. Please have a seat,” Felix replied.

The meeting got underway.

Halfway through, Ethan brought up

the patents.

“Mr. Cole, you haven’t forgotten what you promised me, have you?” he said casually, a smile on his face. “I’m here today specifically for your company’s patents.”

“I always keep my word. What I promised you is all ready,” Felix said with a confident laugh. He nodded at his assistant, signaling him to hand over the patent documents.

Ethan’s team took the files and started reviewing them on the spot. They needed to confirm the patents were valid before signing the contract.

After checking through the documents, Ethan’s assistant frowned, his expression turning serious. He leaned in and whispered something in Ethan’s ear.

“Mr. Lewis, is something wrong?” Felix asked, confused but still confident.

“What the hell is this, Felix?” Ethan slammed the files on the table, his eyes blazing with anger, veins popping on his forehead. “You think you can fool me by using someone else’s patents for our deal?”

“Mr. Lewis, I don’t follow,” Felix said, looking completely bewildered. “I’ve shown you maximum sincerity for this partnership. I’ve been preparing these patents for a long time.”

He had no idea what Ethan was talking about-or why he was so furious.

“When your company was on the verge of collapse, I gave you a lifeline,” Ethan snapped, standing up to leave. “Is this how you repay me? Do you have any idea what happens when you

cross me?”

Felix panicked and rushed to stop him. He bent down, picked up the files, and flipped through

them.

That’s when he saw it-the patents were registered under Quinn’s name,

News of his breakup with Quinn and engagement to Lila had been all over the place. No wonder Ethan was livid-he’d shown up with patents that didn’t even belong to him.

“From now on, we’re done-for good. The only thing I want is for you to get out of my sight. Permanently.”
