Kieran spoke with unshakable resolve. He’d made up his mind and prepared for the worst. He had to take this chance-no matter what.
Quinn still had her doubts, but she couldn’t say no to her brother. If there was anything she could do to help him, she was more than willing. And Kieran seemed cerain this was the right move.
He cared deeply about Hazel. He wanted to be with her. So Quinn needed to help him wrap this up quickly.
“I’ll find her soon and talk to her directly,” Quinn promised.
Hazel had always been kind to her-warm and welcoming. She’d treated Quinn like a little sister, especially since she had no family left.
Quinn believed Hazel had truly cared about Kieran. Shed embraced him as family. But fate had other plans, and their relationship had fallen apart.
Quinn couldn’t help but feel guilty. Their breakup had stemmed from her decision to investigate Hazel’s past. The weight of that guilt sat heavy on her shoulders.
But there was no turning back now. She had to focus on fixing things for her brother.
After their talk, Quinn headed back to work. The company had urgent matters waiting for her, and she needed to check in with Iris about the surgery.
The next day.
Quinn dropped everything and went to find Hazel. She sent her a text, half-expecting no response. To her surprise, Hazel replied with her current address.
Quinn hadn’t anticipated this warmth. If Hazel didn’t care about Kieran anymore, why bother replying? It gave her hope that there might still be a chance for them.
Quinn arrived at their meeting spot-a small café down own.
“Quinn, what a surprise!” Hazel said as she walked in. “You look like you’ve lost weight. Has the fa been too much? You have to take care of yourself. Don’t carry everything alone.”
She paused, her tone softening. “I know you’re strong-willed, but even the toughest people need to res sometimes.”
Hazel looked different. She smiled less, her eyes tired and hollow. She’d lost a lot of weight-too much for a dance instructor who prided herself on her physique. It was clear the past few days had taken a toll on her.
“Yeah, the family’s been through a lot lately. So many changes,” Quinn sighed. “I’m here because of Kieran. He asked me to come.”
She cut to the chase. Matters of the heart didn’t need beating around the bush. She wanted to share Kieran’s feelings with Hazel-if there was any love left, she hope Hazel would give him another chance.
“Oh,” Hazel said, her smile fading. “I thought we made clear. There’s no going back for us. I don’t see the point in talking about it again.”
Her words were firm, no room for negotiation. She’d let the city to cut ties with Kieran completely. She’d never intended to look back.

“Kieran’s not doing well-at all,” Quinn said, her voice earnest. “I’ve never seen him like this. It breaks my heart to watch him suffer.
“He’s just hurting because it ended this way. If you two had grown apart or disagreed on things, he’d accept it. But this? He can’t wrap his head around it.
