Chapter 212 Two Hearts Healed

“But your sister’s words really got to me,” Hazel said softly. “And I can see how sincere you are. Let’s start over. Let’s give us a chance. If it’s meant to be, we’ll take it day by day.”

Hazel had never imagined marrying someone, building a new life. She’d thought she’d be trapped in her past forever. But this time, she was ready to let go. It was sudden, but she cherished every moment they had together.

“Promise you’ll come back to work,” Kieran pleaded. “I’ll help you pack up your things from that place. We’ll build a life here, together. And promise me you won’t leave so easily again, okay?

“Even if we fight, even if we break up someday, stay in this city. This is where you belong. This is where you can shine-not hiding away in some tiny town, all alone

“To be honest, I did look for you. When I found out where you’d gone, my heart broke. I wanted to go get you, but I was scared. Scared you’d find out I knew where you were and run again. I couldn’t bear to see you keep moving, keep hurting.

“But I promise I’ll change. I’ll never dig into your past again. Whatever happened, it’s yours. Our future is what matters-our future together.”

Kieran spoke with unshakable resolve. He loved her more than anything, and he wasn’t going to waste this second chance.

They pulled each other close. They’d both waited so long for this moment. Now, they valued each other more than ever.

“Okay. It’s a deal.”

Once they’d laid everything out, their relationship felt simple again. As long as their hearts were aligned, they’d be happy.

After leaving the restaurant, Kieran texted Quinn right away. He told her they’d made up, and that they’d be moving Hazel’s things back soon.

Quinn was already on her way to Iris’ house. When she saw the message, she smiled.

“My health hasn’t been great lately, but at my age, some discomfort is normal. Don’t waste any more time on me.”

Iris’ decision was final. There would be no changing her mind.

Quinn understood. If she were in Iris’ shoes, she might choose the same. She knew Iris was trying to spare them trouble.

“Mrs. Reed, if that’s what you’ve decided, I won’t push you. I don’t want you to take that risk either. I’ve been worried sick, researching nonstop. But as your family, I always be selfish-I want you healthy, so you can stay with us forever.”

Quinn spoke from the heart. It hurt to see Iris suffer, and she hated that there was nothing more she could do.
