“I can handle these small things on my own. I don’t want to bother you. Besides, I’ve already sorted everything out at the company,” Quinn said.

She didn’t want to trouble him over trivial matters. Besides, she already had a plan in place, and she was confident she could see it through.

“I know you have your own way of doing things, but don’t push yourself too hard if you run into something tough,” Peyton urged again.

Beneath his cool, calm voice, there was a hint of unexpected softness.

Quinn almost thought she’d misheard. But she nodded anyway. “Got it. Thank you.”

After a few more brief words, Peyton hung up the phone.

The sudden display of concern left Quinn feeling flustered-even though he was technically her fiancé.

But right now, she was starving. Whatever else happened, food came first.

“Miss Hart, this steak is amazing! It’s the best steak I’ve ever had in my life!” Mia gushed, her eyes lighting up.

“Your fiancé must really care about you to go through all this trouble.”

Peyton seemed to have thought of everything. He’d known Mia was with her, so he’d ordered double portions for both of them.

Is that really the case?

Quinn wasn’t sure. She’d grown wary of men lately, reluctant to open her heart to anyone so easily ever again.

The next morning, Quinn and Mia arrived at the company bright and early. There were still a few loose ends to tie up.

Once they finished today’s work, she could finally say goodbye to the company for good.

As they reached the ground floor, Quinn paused, looking up at the tall building. Her heart was heavy with mixed emotions.

She’d built this company from scratch. Only she knew how many tears and sleepless nights she’d poured into it, how many hardships she’d endured along the way.

Leaving it all behind felt like cutting off a part of herself. She couldn’t help but feel a twinge of regret.

“Miss Hart, let’s head upstairs,” Mia said gently, noticing the sadness in her eyes and wanting to spare her more heartache.

The two of them made their way to the office.

But right outside her door, they were met with an unexpected sight-Diana was waiting there, her face twisted with rage, clearly ready to pick a fight.

Lila stood by her side, clinging to her arm. When she saw Quinn, she snuggled even closer to Diana, putting on a sickeningly sweet act.

A cold, mocking smile tugged at Quinn’s lips.

“Quinn Hart! How dare you sabotage my son’s big deal! You’ve gotten more and more shameless!” Diana shrieked.

“My son treated you like a princess! I took

like a princess! I took you in like you were my own daughter! Even if you two couldn’t be together, how could you stoop so low as to ruin him like this? You’re nothing but a heartless witch!”

Diana’s shrill, venomous words echoed down the hallway, drawing a crowd of curious onlookers.

Quinn’s eyes turned icy cold. “Mrs. Cole, I respect you out of basic decency-not so you can barge into my company and spout nonsense. If you don’t stop this tantrum right now, I’ll call security to throw you out.”

“What are all of you gawking at? Get back to work!” Mia snapped at the onlookers, her voice sharp. It was outrageous how they stood around gossiping instead of doing their jobs.

They were getting paid to work, not to rubberneck and laugh at their boss’ misfortune.

The crowd scattered in an instant. Their jobs mattered a lot more than a little drama.

Diana let out a bitter laugh, planting her hands on her hips and sneering arrogantly. “Oh, now you’re embarrassed? If you had any shame left, you’d apologize to me right now!

“Quinn Hart, you crafty little vixen! You’ve been playing us for fools this whole time! You’ve got my poor Felix so lovesick he can’t eat or sleep-all he does is mope around, thinking about you!

“You’ve been scheming and plotting just to marry into the Cole family, haven’t you?”

Quinn scoffed, shoving Diana away without a hint of mercy.

“You’re so fond of Felix’s so-called ‘sister, aren’t you? Fine. I’ll do you a favor. Why don’t you three just be one big happy family? Why bother clinging to me for no reason?”

Diana heard the words and instantly jumped to the wrong conclusion-Quinn was jealous. A cold laugh curled her lips. This woman is still hung up on Felix, obviously. All this bluster is just an act to get his attention.

Everything she’s said and done is just a ploy to win him back.

With that “realization,” Diana’s face suddenly softened into a sickly sweet smile. “Quinn, honey -Felix and Lila are just friends. There’s nothing going on between them. The only woman he’s ever loved is you.”

“Spare me the nauseating lies. I’m gonna throw up,” Quinn retorted, fed up with listening to her garbage. She marched into her office and slammed the door shut, locking it behind her.

Diana flew into a rage, pounding on the door so hard her fists hurt.

If this woman refused to cooperate, what would happen to Felix’s company?!

She was used to living the life of a wealthy lady. If Felix’s business tanked and their profits dried up, her cushy lifestyle would go down the drain too!

“Quinn, you bitch! Are you happy now, tearing my family apart?!” she screamed, her voice cracking with fury.

Just then, several security guards rushed over. “Ma’am, we need you to come with us. This is a restricted office area. Unauthorized personnel are not allowed here.”

“What do you think you’re doing?! I’ll have you know-the woman in there is my son’s wife!” Diana shrieked.

The guards exchanged uneasy glances, but Mia stepped forward, her voice sharp. “Don’t listen to her! She’s nothing but a deranged troublemaker living in a fantasy world! Our Miss Hart wouldn’t touch her son with a ten-foot pole!”

“You little slut! What did you say?!” Diana exploded, lunging at Mia with her claws out.

The security guards jumped into action, restraining her and dragging her away despite her screeches and struggles.
