“Got it, Kieran. Let’s go back,” Quinn said.

Quinn had a bit to drink that night. She’d sobered up after what happened, but her head still hurt. She wanted to rest early.
Kieran took her back to the hotel. When they got to his room, he ordered her a bowl of oatmeal. She hadn’t eaten anything after drinking, and he was worried she’d get a stomachache in the morning.
After she finished eating, Kieran stayed by her bed until she fell asleep. Then he left.
With her brother by her side, Quinn felt safe. No matter what happened, it felt like someone was there for
her.
After what happened tonight, she realized she’d been naive. Next time, she’d make sure Mia came with her.
The next morning…
Quinn didn’t wake up until noon. She felt dizzy and disoriented when she got up.
She picked up the lemon water on her nightstand and took a big sip. It helped. She sat by the bed for a while before standing up slowly.
What happened last night kept replaying in her mind. In the heat of the moment, she’d lost control of her strength. If something really bad had happened, the consequences would have been terrible.
She was still a little worried about Derek. She hoped he was okay, but if he’d gotten to the hospital quickly, he should be fine.
She was about to get dressed and go find Kieran when the doorbell rang.
Quinn went to answer it.
“Quinn, right?” a man in a suit said. “I’m Mr. Ford’s lawyer. My client has pressed charges against you for assault. The police will be here soon.”
A lauryer?
How ridiculous!
Quinn’s face remained calm as she replied, “I acted in self–defense last night. Do what you want.”
She wasn’t afraid at all.
“But Mr. Ford is in the hospital with a concussion. He needed ten stitches on his forehead,” the lawyer said, handing her some papers. “We have a medical report and all the evidence ready.”
Quinn didn’t take the papers. She looked at him calmly. “If that’s the case, I’ll hire my own lawyer and gather evidence. I’m not scared!”
“Miss Hart, our client doesn’t want to make things difficult,” the lawyer said. “Besides paying his medical bills, he just wants you to come see him and apologize in person. Then he’ll drop the charges.”

Tm here to talk to you today,” he added. “I think this is the best way to resolve this?
Apologize in person?
And go see him?
No testy?
Quinn never wanted to see that man again. His actions made her sick.

Tell him I never want to see him again.” she said coldly. “I’ll never apologize. And I’ll hire a lawyer to press charges against him too!”
The lawyer was clearly taken aback. He’d never expected her to say that.
Miss Hart, if you claim self–defense, do you have any witnesses or evidence?” he asked, smiling.
Tll and the evidence. If there’s nothing else, please leave.” Quinn said. “I need to rest.”
She closed the door in his face, refusing to talk to him anymore.
Back in her room. Quinn called the restaurant she’d dined at last night. She wanted them to send her the surveillance footage from the private room.
Half an hour later. the hotel staff told her the cameras were broken!
How could then bef
Quinn was furious.
Derek must hate planned this hiring someone to tamper with the footage or colluding with the hotel.
She knew she had to go to the restaurant in person. She needed to get to the bottom of this. This matter
wouldn’t end here.
If she was really sued, she’d never win without evidence.
Half an hour later
Quinn arrived at the restaurant and found the manager.

“I’m sorry, ma’am” the manager said. The entire surveillance system crashed last night. We just fixed it this morning. I can’t give you the footage you’re asking for.”
“But this is about an assault case, Quinn said. ‘I don’t want your apology. Take me to your security room right now. I need to check it myself!”
She refused to believe the timing was that coincidental.
The manager looked flustered. “Ma’am, the security room isn’t open to the public. I’m sorry, but I can’t let you in.”
The manager’s attitude was firm, and she insisted the cameras were broken. There was nothing Quinn could
