“What are you talking about?” he asked. “I know he bullied you last night, but I just found out about his company’s troubles too.”

Kieran finally understood the situation. He smiled and said, “Only your fiancé would act so quickly and decisively.

Quinn almost spat out her water. The word “fiancé” still felt strange to her.

She felt a sense of distance from Peyton. Despite meeting him only once and talking on the phone a few times, she still found him somewhat unfamiliar. He always gave off an aura of detachment.

“How did he find out about what happened?” Quinn asked, puzzled.

“It’s not hard for him to find out,” Kieran replied. “This just shows how much he cares about you.”

Quinn had felt it before–a strange sense of being watched. No matter what happened to her, Peyton always found out quickly.

Even if he hadn’t helped her, she would have found a way to resolve this on her own. She would never let Derek frame her unjustly.

Quinn smiled but didn’t say anything.

“Quinn, you have to trust Mom, Dad, and me,” Kieran said seriously. “The person we chose for you is someone we truly believe you can rely on for the rest of your life. We would never do anything to hurt you!”

Kieran thought she might still have lingering feelings for Felix. He couldn’t help but try to persuade her.

They hadn’t mentioned Felix since Kieran arrived here.

“Kieran, of course I trust you all,” Quinn assured him. “Felix and I are completely done. I’ll never have any feelings for him again. You can rest assured!”
