Chapter 47 Unforeseen Kindness

If Felix hadn’t betrayed her like that, Quinn never would have taken things this far. At most, they would have split the company’s assets evenly.
But he’d stolen her patents and even used them to help Lila with her graduation project. How could she ever forgive him?
“It’s just a few patents! What’s the harm in letting Lila use them?” Felix argued. “I even offered to split the profits with you if you’d work with me–you’re the one who refused.
“And even if our relationship is over, you can be angry with me all you want. But my mother never did anything to you! Because of you, she had a heart attack and has been in the hospital. You won’t even go see her. Don’t you think that’s going too far?”
So that’s why he’s been quiet lately–his mother is hospitalized.
Quinn curled her lips into a sarcastic smile. “She came after me first. What does that have to do with me?”
She’d never provoked anyone. She’d only been protecting her own interests.
“You’re being unreasonable!” Felix shouted, his voice trembling with anger.
Quinn hung up the phone without hesitation, refusing to listen to another word of his nonsense.
After putting down the phone, Quinn went downstairs.
“Good morning, Miss Hart,” Mabel greeted her.
“I prepared breakfast for you. It’s a bit late, but you should eat something,” she added.
Quinn checked the time–it was almost noon!
She’d slept so soundly last night that she’d overslept.
“Thank you, Mabel. Did he come home last night?” Quinn asked, still not seeing any sign of Peyton.
The house didn’t even feel like he’d been there.
“Mr. Reed called me earlier,” Mabel explained. “He’s on a business trip to Rivertown. He’ll be back the day after tomorrow. He specifically told me to take good care of you these two days.”
Does he want me to stay here the entire time?
Quinn didn’t have any plans for the next few days, but she wasn’t sure if staying at his house was appropriate.
She hesitated, lost in thought.
Just then, the front door opened.
It was Eleanor.

“Mabel, come help mel” she called out.

Eleanor walked in carrying numerous bags. Mabel hurried over to assist her, and Quinn followed suit.
From the pile of gift boxes, Eleanor pulled out the smallest one and opened it.
Inside was a pearl necklace.
“Quinn, I didn’t know you’d be here yesterday, so I didn’t bring a gift,” Eleanor said warmly. “I picked this out for you today. It suits your temperament perfectly. Think of it as a welcome present. Let me put it on for you.”
Eleanor clearly valued her, otherwise she wouldn’t have gone to the trouble of choosing a gift personally.
Quinn had never cared much about material things, nor had she expected such a thoughtful gesture.
“Thank you, Mrs. Reed,” she said, leaning forward to let Eleanor fasten the necklace around her neck.
Eleanor stepped back to admire her handiwork, nodding in approval. “Beautiful. Wear it often!”
She then pulled out two more bags. “These are some clothes I picked out for you. I’ve always wanted a daughter to go shopping with–Peyton’s such a bore.”
“I saw these pretty outfits at the mall today and couldn’t resist buying them for you,” she added with a smile.
All these gifts were for her.
Quinn felt overwhelmed by the kindness, a warm feeling spreading through her chest.
“Thank you for putting so much thought into these gifts, Mrs. Reed. If you ever want to go shopping again, please call me,” she said sincerely.
“That’s exactly what I was hoping for! It’s a deal,” Eleanor replied happily.
This was a feeling Quinn had never experienced before. Being with Eleanor made her feel comfortable, relaxed, and truly valued.
“When you and Peyton have children, I’ll buy all their clothes!” Eleanor exclaimed excitedly.
“You two will be engaged soon. You should start thinking about having kids. I hope it’s a girl. I’ve always wanted a little princess in the family!”
Quinn was stunned.
Isn’t this moving a little too fast?
She’d never thought about having children, let alone being a mother.
“Alright, no need to look so nervous.” Eleanor laughed. “These things take time. My job here is done. I’m off to play cards. Rest well!”
As energetic as ever, Eleanor left after settling everything.
Quinn stayed at home and sorted through the clothes Eleanor had given her. She had to admit–Eleanor

had excellent taste.
All the outfits were perfect for her, matching her style perfectly!
She started thinking about what gift she could give Eleanor in return.
Two days passed quickly.
Peyton returned from his business trip.
The first thing he did after getting off the plane was head home to see Quinn.
