Chapter 50 Public Humiliation
The pastry tasted good.
“Quinn Hart!”
A familiar voice made her lose her appetite instantly.
It’s Felix again!
Why couldn’t he leave me alone? He’s so annoying.
Quinn set down her plate and turned to walk away. She didn’t even want to look at him.
But Felix chased after her, grabbing her wrist tightly.
Finished
“Quinn, stop right there!” he snapped. “Why are you running away as soon as you see me? Are you guilty of being here with another man?”
He’d also come to the cocktail party–arriving even earlier than them.
His company was struggling badly. He’d fought hard to get an invitation, hoping to meet potential business partners and find new projects.
He never expected to see Quinn walking in arm–in–arm with Peyton.
I’m single. I can be with whoever I want,” Quinn said, a cold smile tugging at her lips. Her eyes were filled with disdain. “Why would I feel guilty?”
“Quit acting so high and mighty, Quinn,” Felix scoffed. “Do you even know who that man is? That’s Peyton Reed!
“Do you really think you’re good enough for him? He’s already engaged—to be married soon! Are you trying to be a homewrecker?”
Felix spoke with feigned righteousness, his eyes dripping with contempt.
He’d never in a million years guess that Quinn was the woman Peyton was about to marry.
Homewreckers are the last thing I’d ever want to be,” Quinn said coldly.
“Then stay away from him! I’m warning you–he’s dangerous. If his fiancée finds out about what you’re doing tonight, you’ll regret it!”
Felix shouted, his anger flaring.
For some reason, seeing Quinn with another man made him furious–his rage burning hotter by the second.
He’d almost rushed over to confront her the moment he saw her. But when he realized who she was with, he hesitated.
Peyton was someone he couldn’t afford to offend.

Chapter 80 Public Humiliation
“This is my business, not yours,” Quinn said sharply. “You’d be better off worrying about yourself.”
Finished
She tried to yank her wrist free, but Felix only tightened his grip–so hard it felt like he might crush her
bones
“Quinn!” he roared. “When did you become like this? Don’t you know what you’re saying? Are you really going to keep this up? I’ve given you a chance–don’t regret it!”
Felix was completely enraged, clinging to her arm and refusing to let go.
Quinn’s pale skin had already turned purple. Sharp pain shot through her wrist.
We broke up!” she yelled. “I don’t want your stupid chance–I never did!
Let me go. Felix! If you don’t, I’ll call for help. You know what will happen if Peyton comes over!”
Her wrist felt like it was going to snap. She had no choice but to use Peyton’s name to threaten him.
She didn’t dare shout too loudly–too many people were watching. She’d arrived with Peyton, and now she was tangled up with her ex–fiance.
If others saw this, they’d gossip nonstop.
She didn’t care about the rumors, but Peyton didn’t deserve to be dragged into her mess.
Sure enough, mentioning Peyton worked.
Felix let go of her abruptly.
“Quinn, you’re a shameless bitch!” he spat. “Do you really think you’re worthy of Peyton? Even if you hook up with him, you’re just a toy to him. He’ll toss you aside once he gets bored!”
Felix’s words were cruel and unrestrained–fueled by jealousy and anger.
He’d never imagined Quinn would be with someone like Peyton, let alone attend the party so openly with
him
It drove him crazy, but he couldn’t dare to take her back in front of everyone.
Thanks for the warning. Quinn said, surprisingly calm.
She gave him a cold smile before turning and walking away.
After taking a few steps, she noticed Peyton standing not far away–watching her silently.
Quinn’s hair was a little messy from the struggle. She wondered if he’d heard their entire argument.
But his face was expressionless–no hint of anger or amusement.
“I… I didn’t mean to use your name,” she stammered. “Did you hear what happened? He wouldn’t leave me alone. I didn’t want everyone to stare, so I had to say that.”
