“Don’t worry-I’ve sorted out all my family matters,” Quinn said. “From now on, I’m back to work with you side by side. It’s just the two of us in this small studio for now, so it might be a bit tough.
“But once all our projects are on track, I’ll hire more people to help. Our little studio will definitely grow bigger-you have my word!”
“I really appreciate you holding down the fort while I was away. I know you’ve been working hard, handling so many tasks and dealing with a lot of pressure,” she continued. “I don’t have much money to give you right now, but I promise I won’t let you down once our projects succeed.”
Even though they were close friends, Quinn thought it was best to be clear about these things. Mia had stuck with her for years, and she deserved to know her efforts would be rewarded.
If she were in Mia’s shoes, she’d feel the same way.
“Miss Hart, I know you’ll never let me down,” Mia said firmly. “I trust you completely-that’s why I chose to stay by your side without hesitation.”
Quinn smiled, grateful for her loyalty.
When everyone else had wanted to leave, Mia had stood by her without a second thought.
A short while later, Leo arrived. Seeing the two women sitting together, he took a seat across from them.
“Let me introduce you,” Quinn said. “This is my good friend Leo. He helped fix the issues with our two previous projects. You two must have spoken on the phone.
“And this is my best friend and now my assistant, Mia.”
She introduced them to each other. The two exchanged nods, acknowledging one another.
Mia couldn’t help but feel a flutter of excitement when she saw Leo
He’s incredibly handsome-even more so than the actors on TV!
But she knew better than to get her hopes up. Their social statuses were worlds apart, and a relationship between them was impossible.
She pushed the thought aside.
“We’ll be collaborating with Harrison Group on two projects,” Quinn explained. “I called you both here today so you can get familiar with each other. You’ll be working closely together in the future!
“You’re both important friends to me, and I hope you’ll become friends too.”
“I understand, Miss Hart. You can count on me!” Mia replied.
“Quinn, here are the project proposals,” Leo said, handing them over. “Take a look-let me know if anything needs changing. I had no idea you’d hired an assistant already.”
“She’s quite pretty,” he teased. “What kind of future can she have working for you? Why not let her come

work for me? My company’s growing fast!”
Leo was just trying to lighten the awkward mood. The two women seemed a bit tense.

“Leo, you’re getting bolder by the day-openly poaching my people right in front of me!” Quinn joked. “She’s my most capable assistant. I’d never let her go!”
“That’s right!” Mia agreed firmly. “No matter how Miss Hart’s company develops, I’ll never leave her-as long as she doesn’t kick me out!”
Leo laughed. “Alright, alright, my bad. Let’s grab dinner together. You can review the proposals later. We have plenty of time.”
After dinner, they prepared to head back.
Quinn’s driver was already waiting outside, so she could ride home with him.
But Mia had come alone, and it was getting late. Quinn felt worried about her.
“Leo, could you drop Mia home safely?” she asked. “I’ll hold you accountable if anything happens to her!”
“Don’t worry. I’ll get her home safe and sound. You know you can trust me,” Leo replied.
With that, Mia got into Leo’s car.
Deep down, Leo had wanted to drive Quinn home. He couldn’t help but feel resentful.
Why has she ended up with someone else? Why didn’t she give me a chance?
He planned to keep getting close to her. After all, she wasn’t officially engaged yet.
Maybe he’d only truly give up once the engagement was final.
