On the way back, Leo couldn’t help but ask, “Have you been by Quinn’s side this whole time?”

“Yes,” Mia replied. “Miss Hart has been through a lot lately. She endured a broken heart and watched the company she built nearly go bankrupt.

“I’ve stayed with her through it all. She’s incredibly strong-always keeping her vulnerability to herself, never wanting anyone to see how tough it’s been.

“Sometimes I feel really bad for her. She’s so exhausted, but she just keeps pushing through.”

Mia’s voice was filled with genuine concern as she spoke.

A look of sadness crossed Leo’s face. He wished he could have shared her pain, but they hadn’t spoken in years-he’d had no idea what she’d been going through.

If he had known, he would have stood up for her without hesitation, never letting that jerk hurt her.

“You’re a good friend to Miss Hart,” Mia said. “I can tell you’ve been doing everything you can to help her. To be honest, she knows full well this collaboration only happened because you’re friends.

“Miss Hart always tells me this opportunity isn’t easy to come by. She says I must cherish it and give the project my all. But I think you can trust her completely.

“Her previous company might not have been as big as yours, but she’s truly talented. I thought so the first time I met her. I have full faith in her vision!”

Mia admired Quinn deeply, hoping to be just like her someday.

“She’s not as amazing as you make her out to be,” Leo chuckled. “I’ve known her for years. I know exactly what she’s like!

“Let’s be real, she’s just working on these small patents. Since you two are so close, could you do me a favor? Tell her she doesn’t have to push herself so hard. She should take more time to rest.”

Quinn had lost a lot of weight lately, looking almost haggard compared to when they first met.

As a friend, he hated seeing her this way.

“Don’t worry, Mr. Harrison. I’ll keep an eye on her and make sure she eats well,” Mia promised. “Miss Hart is just too stubborn. She wants everything to be perfect. I try to tell her to slow down, but she never listens.”

They talked the entire drive. Their conversation centered on Quinn.

Mia could tell Leo was only chatting with her to learn more about Quinn.

As an outsider, it was obvious to her-he was definitely in love with Quinn.

When they arrived at her place, Mia got out of the car.

“Thank you for dropping me off, Mr. Harrison. Drive safely on your way back.”

When Quinn got home, she was shocked to see Peyton’s car parked in the driveway.

He’s home this early?

It’s unheard of. He rarely comes home, and when he does, it’s always late at night.

She quickened her pace and pushed open the door.

Peyton was sitting on the sofa, as if waiting for her.

“Why are you home so early?” Quinn asked, confused.

“My work schedule wasn’t too full today, so I came back a bit sooner,” he replied calmly.

After speaking, he rubbed his forehead, his cold face showing signs of exhaustion.

“Mr. Reed, your lemon water is ready,” Mabel said, bringing a glass out of the kitchen.

Quinn walked over to him, and a strong smell of alcohol hit her nose.

He’s been drinking!

Quinn frowned. It was normal for him to drink at work dinners, but he seemed to have had much more than usual tonight.

Has something happened?

Worry crept into her voice as she asked, “Mabel, why did he drink so much?”

“Mr. Reed rarely drinks this heavily,” Mabel whispered. “I don’t know what’s wrong. Maybe something upset

him?”

Peyton closed his eyes and leaned back on the sofa, looking like he was about to fall asleep.

“Peyton, what’s really going on?” Quinn pressed gently. “Did something happen? You can talk to me. I might not be able to fix it, but I’m here to listen.”
