Chapter 73 Unexpected Intimacy
Quinn took the lemon water from Mabel and held it to Peyton’s lips, feeding him gently.
“It’s just work stuff-nothing serious. Don’t worry about me,” he mumbled.
“I’m not feeling great today. Sorry for making you anxious.”

Peyton’s large hand covered hers, his touch warm and reassuring.
Quinn stared down at their intertwined hands, stunned.
His palm was hot, radiating warmth that made her feel safe and grounded.
After speaking, he seemed to drift off to sleep.
But sleeping on the sofa after drinking so much would only leave him feeling terrible the next day. He needed to be in bed.
“Peyton, don’t sleep here,” Quinn said softly, trying to lift him up. “Let me help you to the bedroom, okay?”
Mabel hurried over to assist. Together, they tried to carry him to the bedroom.
But Peyton was tall and heavy-especially drunk.
Quinn gritted her teeth. “Mabel, let’s lift together…”
It took a lot of effort, but they finally got him into the bedroom. They removed his shoes and tucked him under the covers.
Quinn rarely took care of others. Seeing the man worn out from work, she felt a surge of sympathy.
She wondered what kind of work could exhaust someone like Peyton.
“Rest well,” she whispered. “If you feel unwell, call me. I’ll stay here tonight-sleep on the sofa next to you.”
She wasn’t sure if he could hear her, but she said it anyway.
As she turned to leave, Peyton grabbed her hand again.
“Don’t go,” he said, his voice deep and soft-no longer cold, just gentle.
“Stay with me.”
Quinn froze. She wasn’t used to this side of him, but her body didn’t resist. Her instincts were honest-she couldn’t deny the pull.
“Okay,” she agreed.
Quinn crouched beside the bed, watching him in the dim light.
It was the first time she’d looked at him so closely. His features were sharp and perfect, not a single flaw.

Chapter 73 Unexpected intimacy
He was truly handsome-enough to make anyone’s heart skip a beat.
She couldn’t take her eyes off him, her gaze lingering.
Before she knew it, Quinn fell asleep beside him. She’d been on her feet all day, exhausted.
Finished
When she woke up the next morning, she was shocked to find herself in Peyton’s bed, clinging to him like a body pillow!
What happened?
Quinn sat up abruptly. Relief washed over her-they were both fully dressed. Nothing inappropriate had occurred.
She remembered him asking her to stay, but everything after that was a blur.
How embarrassing!
Quinn cursed herself for falling asleep in his room.
Her sudden movement woke Peyton. He opened his sleepy eyes and glanced around.
“Peyton, I… I…” she stammered.
“You were drunk last night, so I stayed to take care of you. I don’t know how I fell asleep next to you,” she rushed to explain, fearing he’d misunderstand.
She didn’t want him to think she’d taken advantage of his drunken state.
“I know,” Peyton said calmly.
He’d woken up in the middle of the night, found her curled up beside him like a little cat, and carried her into the bed.
He knows?
He remembers everything?
Quinn’s face turned bright red. She stared at her hands, too embarrassed to meet his eyes.
“You drank so much yesterday. You must feel terrible today. Should I make you some honey water?”
“No need. Mabel will take care of it,” he replied.
Quinn thought back to Felix-he used to come home drunk from work dinners too. She wasn’t good at much, but she’d always made him honey water, and it had worked.
Now, it all seemed silly.
“I’ll get up and tidy up. I should leave now,” she said, eager to escape the awkwardness.
Peyton watched her retreating figure and smiled softly.
