Done with Cheater's Coldness Shine in Rival's Arms novel Chapter 75

Chapter 75 The Interrupted Dinner Plan

Leo checked the time-dinner hour had arrived.

“Let’s go grab something to eat together,” he suggested.

“Sure, why not?” Quinn agreed without hesitation. Going home now would mean an empty house.

Peyton usually stayed out late for work dinners. She’d be bored alone.

The three of them walked out of the company together.

As soon as they reached the entrance, Quinn spotted a familiar car.

It’s Peyton’s!

Why is he here? Could he be waiting for me?

Quinn walked over to the car, staring at him in disbelief.

“Peyton, what are you doing here?”

“Picking you up from work,” he replied simply.

Quinn froze. She never expected him to come in person-especially driving himself without a driver.

But she’d already made plans to eat with Leo and Mia. Now she was torn.

“Miss Hart, your fiancé’s here to pick you up,” Mia said, sensing her dilemma. “How about we reschedule dinner for another day?”

She figured it was better to speak up. Leo was their important partner, after all.

“Mr. Reed, you’re really spoiling your fiancée-coming to pick her up in person!” Leo greeted Peyton, forcing a smile.

Deep down, he felt a twinge of disappointment. But he couldn’t stand in the way of their relationship.

As Quinn’s friend, he’d always put her happiness first-even if it meant hiding his own feelings.

“Naturally,” Peyton replied coldly, his face expressionless.

Yet his towering presence said it all.

He’d come today to stake his claim.

He could tell Leo had been by Quinn’s side for years and their friendship was far from ordinary.

Quinn didn’t seem to have romantic feelings for Leo, but it was obvious Leo loved her.

“Leo, I’m so sorry. Let me treat you to dinner another time,” Quinn said deciding to go with Peyton.

“Sure, no problem,” Leo replied, masking his sadness with a polite smile.

On the drive back, Quinn sat in the passenger seat. The car fell silent. They were still strangers, having spent little time together.

Quinn didn’t know what to say.

Suddenly, the phone rang, breaking the quiet.

Peyton answered it.

“Peyton, help me!” a woman’s high-pitched voice pleaded. “I fell at home and can’t get up. Please come quickly…”

Her tone was urgent and overly sweet.

“Don’t move. I’ll be right there,” Peyton said, his eyes turning cold.

Quinn recognized the voice. She’d heard it once before.

Their relationship was clearly more than casual.

But she’d never asked about it. Afterall, it hadn’t been her business.

Now, though, she couldn’t help but feel uncomfortable.

“I’ll drop you off first,” Peyton said. “I have an emergency to handle. I can’t dinner with you tonight, but Mabel will have food ready.”

He’d specifically cleared his schedule to come home early and spend time with her.

He never expected this interruption!

That woman had been having more and more “accidents” lately-signaling her leg was getting worse.

Peyton frowned, worried.

“Okay,” Quinn replied, trying to hide her disappointment.

He’d insisted on taking her home, only to leave right away.

When she got back, Mabel had prepared a lavish dinner-obviously at Peyton’s request.

If that woman hadn’t called, they might have had dinner together.

Quinn could tell Peyton had been trying to create opportunities to grow closer.

But something always came up, ruining their plans. It was frustrating.

Meanwhile…

Peyton arrived at a nearby villa. Inside, a woman lay sprawled on the floor, surrounded by shattered glass- looking utterly helpless.
