Escape from Mr. Whitman (Emma and Theodore) novel Chapter 553

The entire room's attention pivoted to Sebastian.

Isla's hands clenched into tight fists, her pulse racing.

After all, in all the years they'd known each other, he had never once stood up for her. He had always treated her with nothing but annoyance and evasion.

Then, Sebastian flashed a faint smile. "Ms. Brown, I didn't co-create this routine."

A collective gasp rippled through the crowd. Isla nearly wept with relief, her eyes shining as she stared at him in pure adoration.

Ms. Brown stumbled back a step, all the color draining from her face.

"Warren," Ms. Brown called out to her husband, her voice shaking. "I don't care what you do, but I would rather starve in the streets than associate with families like these. As for you, do whatever you want."

With that, she grabbed her clutch and stormed toward the exit.

Mr. Warren immediately hurried after her.

She was wearing heels and walking with a furious, reckless speed. From behind, she looked like she might tip over at any second.

Mr. Warren caught up, steadying her by the arm. "Slow down. What if you fall?"

"If I slow down, my heart might just give out from the anger," she snapped, shooting him a glare. "What are you doing out here? What about maintaining your precious connections with the Greenwoods and Remingtons?"

He guided her into the elevator before saying softly, "The most important relationship I will ever maintain in this lifetime is ours."

Ms. Brown froze, a sudden heat prickling at the corners of her eyes.

"You believe Emma, and I believe you. Let's go home," he said.

Her departure barely made a ripple. The party pressed on, and Isla approached Sebastian to express her gratitude.

"Sebastian, I honestly didn't expect you to help me. Thank you," she murmured, her heart still fluttering.
