Chapter 10: Reject Jasper
Ryder’s POV
When I arrived at Silverlight territory with my Beta, my first destination was the cramped, run–down room that Amelia had been kept in near the safehouse. But after combing through the entire safehouse and the nearby rooms–even the servants‘ quarters–I didn’t find her.
The right thing to do at that point would’ve been to summon Jasper and have him lead me to her. But something in my gut told me not to. So instead, I shifted my search toward the main packhouse, where the Alpha and his family were usually stationed. I figured maybe I was wrong–maybe Amelia hadn’t been isolated from her family the way I thought.
And true to my suspicion, I caught the faintest wisp of her scent. I moved from room to room, following it, hoping it would lead me straight to her–the place where her scent was the strongest.
As I reached a shadowed hallway, a door swung open, and Jasper stepped out, his smirk as slimy as ever. “What’re you doing here, Ryder?” he asked, crossing his arms like he owned the place.
I didn’t have time for his games. “I came to see Amelia,” I said, my voice hard. “Where is she?”
Jasper’s eyes narrowed, but his grin stayed plastered on. “Amelia? Oh, she ran off last night. Didn’t want to join your pack, I guess. Can’t blame her–Pawmoon’s a rough place, right?”
I didn’t buy it. Not for a second. Amelia wouldn’t just run, not after everything she’d been through here. “Bullshit,” I said, stepping closer. “Where is she, Jasper?”
He shrugged, acting all casual. “I’m telling you, she’s gone. Skipped out. But don’t worry–I got plenty of other girls. Strong female wolves, prettier, perfect for breeding. Way better than that weak little servant, trust me.”
My fists clenched. “I don’t want anyone else. I want Amelia.”
Jasper laughed–a nasty, sharp sound. “Oh, come on. You know she’s not worth your time, Ryder. She’s a nobody. No wolf, no skills–just a useless servant who can’t even clean properly. You’re wasting your breath.”
“Watch your mouth,” I snapped, my voice low and dangerous. “Don’t talk about my Luna like that.”
His smirk faltered, then came back twice as smug. “Luna? That rat? You’re joking, right? She’s nothing but a dirty little-”
I didn’t let him finish. My eyes caught something in the yard through a grimy window–a pair of small, bloodstained women‘ s shoes, half–buried in the mud. I recognized them instantly.
Amelia had been wearing those ratty shoes when I saw her last night, torn and barely holding together. My blood ran cold. She was in danger–I could feel it.
“Enough games,” I growled, grabbing Jasper by the collar and slamming him against the wall. “Hand her over. Now. Or I’ll tear this place apart, and you’ll wish you’d never met me.”
Jasper’s face paled, his smirk gone. He squirmed, but he knew I wasn’t bluffing. “Fine, fine!” he sputtered. “I’ll get her. Just … calm down.”
He snapped his fingers, and his Beta scurried off. Minutes dragged by, each one twisting my gut tighter. Finally, the door creaked open, and two servants dragged Amelia in.
My heart stopped.
She looked like hell–her face bruised, her sweater ripped, fresh cuts and welts covering her arms. Her eyes were dull, like she’d been through a nightmare. She stumbled, barely able to stand.
“Alpha Ryder,” she whispered, her voice breaking. “Help me… please.”
I rushed to her, shoving the servants aside. “What the hell did you do to her?” I roared at Jasper, my fists itching to smash his face again.
Jasper shrugged, leaning against the wall like it was no big deal. “She’s been messing around with other guys. I was just giving her what she deserved. You know, discipline.”
“Liar!” Amelia cried, her voice shaky but fierce. I helped her up, pulling her close.
Her body trembled against mine, and I could feel her heart racing. “You’re safe now,” I murmured, holding her tight. “I’ve got you.”
I turned to my Beta, who’d followed me in. “Teas

My Beta didn’t hesitate. He grabbed Jasper and startu laying into punches to the face, kicks to the ribs. Jasper’s smug grin was gone, replaced by blood and bruises as he crumpled to the floor, groaning.
Chapter 10: Reject Jasper
“You can’t do this!” Jasper wheezed, spitting blood. “This is my territory! She’s my servant! I was just disciplining her!”
I crouched down, grabbing his jaw so he had to look at me. “You have no right to touch her,” I said, my voice deadly calm. She’s not your property.”
