Chapter 45
Amrita’s POV
I stood in front of the tall mirror staring at my reflection as the final touch was pinned into my hair. My fingers shook a little, and not just from nerves Everything felt unreak The soft off-shoulde: champagne dr hugged my waist and flower down in layers of delicate silk. The neckline dipped just enough to be elegant, and small silver embroidery along the bodice shimmered under the warm light. I’d never worn anything like this in my entire fe
The room they’d given me to get ready was beautiful-probably one of the prettiest rooms in the whole park house Creat colored walls, gold-trimmed mirrors, white roses in glass vases, and a chandelier above that sparkled like we crystal. It all felt like something out of a dream. Or a fairytale.
Except I wasn’t the princess.
I was just… Amelia. A former maid. A girl without a wolf. But somehow, I’d been chosen-by the Arpha himself
‘Miss Amelia,” one of the helpers smiled as she fluffed the bottom of my dress. “You look perfect.”
I gave her a small smile and nodded, even though my heart was pounding. All I could think was, What if I trip in these heels? What if I say something stupid? What if I don’t belong up there?
But then I thought of Ryder.
The way he looked at me that night when he asked me to marry him-uncertain, but still putting me first like he always does. He told me I was everything to him. His family. And the truth is, Ryder’s the only family I have too. What we share is ‘eal. He’s real. The same man I gave my whole heart to. We’d already chosen each other. And today, he was going to say it out loud, in front of everyone.
That thought calmed me a little.
By the time they came to escort me, the nerves had settled just enough for me to breathe normally. I walked slowly through he hallway, holding onto my dress so I didn’t trip. My hair was half-up, curled loosely around my shoulders, and I wore a iny silver necklace Ryder had given me just this morning.
stepped out into the ballroom.
it was packed-pack members from all corners, dressed in their best. Lights glowed softly from the ceiling and everytining parkled. I could feel the attention the second I entered. Whispers. Stares Some warm, some not.
But Ryder stood near the stage, in a sharp black suit that made him look like the real Alpha he was-powertui proud ant breathtaking. His eyes found mine the second I appeared, and the smile he gave me it made everything che disappear
He walked over, took my hand, and whispered, “You’re beautiful”
I blushed, looking down, then back up at him “You clean up pretty well yourself”
“Ready?” he asked
I nodded. As ready as I’d ever be
We walked together to the front where the host of the ceremony stood, me in hand just as I stepped onto the stage be silk Ryder, a tanuliar voice cut through the crowd like poison.
“Well, well I was starting to think this day would be boring”

Chapter 41
Baghille’s mother-
She stepped forward from the crowd, wearing a smug expression and a tight black dress. Her eyes were fixerl on me like she was sizing up a stain on her ches
“I told you.” she said loudly, her smile sharp and cruel. “The girl’s brave, i’ll give her that. But soon enough, it’ll be Camille in
that white dress. Not her.”
Murmurs ran through the crowd like ripples in water.
I felt Ryder’s hand tighten around mine, grounding me. I didn’t say anything. i didn’t need to. If she wanted to see me break she’d be disappointed.
The host quickly moved on, clearly uncomfortable. “Let’s begin the engagement ceremony,” he said, smiling too wide ‘Alpha Ryder would like to say a few words.”
Ryder stepped up to the mic. The room fell silent.
‘I know many of you were surprised when I chose Amelia,” he said, his voice calm and strong. “Some of you still don’ understand it. But I didn’t choose her because of tradition. Or bloodlines. I chose her because of who she is.
He looked at me.
‘She’s kind. Fierce when she needs to be. Braver than anyone I know. And I love her. She’s the only one I want by my side when I lead this pack. From this day forward, I swear-I’ll protect this pack, with her at my side.”
A small wave of applause followed, and a few warm smiles appeared in the crowd. I felt a lump form in my throat.
I wanted so badly to believe this was real. That after everything, I was finally being accepted-not as the maid people used to whisper about, but as the future Luna. For a moment, it felt like was standing in a dream. The lights, the cheers, Ryder’s hand warm in mine. Maybe this was what it meant to belong. Maybe this was the life I had never dared to imagine
And then-
