Chapter 46
Amelia’s POV
The room was frozen. No one moved. No one spoke. I could feel Ryder’s grip on my hand tighten, but not painfully Just firm-steady.
He leaned close and whispered, “Don’t worry. I’ve got this.”
I gave a small nod, my heart thudding too loud in my ears. Camille stood in front of everyone, looking like she’d been dragged through hell and then dressed up to pretend it didn’t matter.
Her hair was a mess, her dress all wrinkled, and the way she looked at me-eyes sharp like she already decided I was guilty- made my chest tighten, even though I knew I didn’t do anything wrong.
A few murmurs started in the crowd.
“Wasn’t she exiled?”
“She almost killed Amelia…”
“Why is she even here?”
Camille let out a sharp, mocking laugh that echoed off the walls. “Oh, come on,” she said, her tone dripping with spite. “Drop the innocent act. Half of you can’t stand that little maid any more than I can.”
Someone near the back shouted, “You were locked up for nearly murdering Luna Amelia!”
Camille rolled her eyes. “And what? You think locking me away made me blind?” She turned slowly, making sure everyone was watching. “The truth has a way of finding people. Even in the dark.”
Ryder stepped forward, fury flashing in his eyes. His voice cut through the tension, hard and commanding
“Guards, what the hell are you waiting for? Restrain her-now!”
He didn’t even glance at Camille as he spoke, his gaze sweeping the room, sharp and unrelenting.
“Who let her out? Who gave that order?”
The doors swung wider as several guards rushed in. The head of security-Rarius-looked visibly shakes as he stepped
1 forward and lowered his head.
“Alpha, 1-I take full responsibility. There was a lapse… she had help. We’re still investigating how
“Fix it,” Ryder snapped, his voice low but laeed with lethal promise “Now.”
Two guards seized Camille by the arms, but she lurched forward, her voice rising with unhinged tury
“I’m not done! You have to listen to me!” she screamed, struggling against them, eyes wild
“Don’t let him fool you! He’s hed to you! He’s hiding the truth she’s a take! A Luma made of lies!”
Her voice cracked as she thrashed in their grip.
“I know what really happened! I saw it with my own eyes! She doesn’t deserve the title
none of this is teal!

bergh Hyder growled, his voice a thunderclap that silenced even Camille for a beat
But even restrained, the twisted around, lifting her chin, eyes gleaming with defiance and something darker
“See?” Camille snapped, breaking hard as she writhed in the guards grip Her vone cut through the sience, raw and
accusing
“He doesn’t want his little lover exposed-so he has me restrained like I’m the threat.”
She twisted, eyes sweeping the room, desperate to land a blow.
“You’ve all been led just like I was. Lied to. Played.”
“Shut up,” Ryder commanded, his voice low and razor-sharp.
But it only made her smile.
Camille’s lips twisted into a bitter curve that never reached her eyes.
“You’re making a mistake, Alpha. All this-for her?”
She jerked her chin toward me like I was filth she couldn’t scrub away.
A hush gripped the hall. My heart hammered in my throat, but I held my chin high. Ryder told me not to worry. I trusted him. I had to.
Camille’s voice rose again, sharp and venomous despite the guards gripping her arms.
‘I have evidence-real proof. She cheated during the competition, and Alpha helped her. The trials were nigged, and verything you’re celebrating is built on deceit.”
The words slithered through the crowd like smoke. Doubt. Unlease. A few glances shifted toward me, uncertain, probing.
Then, just as quickly, her tone changed-softened, dripping with false pity.
Would you really do this to yourself, Ryder?” she asked, her voice trembling with concern.
Throw away your title, your name, the respect of your people… all for her?”
She twisted against the guards, trying to inch forward, her breath ragged.
You used to be smarter than this.”
Ryder stood motionless.
And I didn’t breathe.
The silence was taut-so tight it felt like the air itself might shatter My palins were damp, but I refused to look away
broke, she’d win
Camille suddenly threw her head back and laughed a wild, broken sound that echoed off the stone walls
Then she screamed, voice cracking under the weight of her fury.
“You all know she has no wolt, right? Don’t pretend you haven’t heard the rumors!”

She fought the guards hold, wrists straining against their grip
“It’s true! She’s defective! And if that isn’t pathetic enough-
Her eyes darted toward me, blazing.
“She’s a damn maid from Silverlight!”
Gasps swept through the room like a gust of wind.
Camille leaned forward despite the guards restraining her, spitting the next words like venom.
“Oh, and the best part? She’s already promised to the Alpha of Silverlight! Isn’t that rich?”
Her laughter turned cruel, ragged.

‘A runaway bride. A wolfless little servant. And you’re ready to make her Luna of Pawmoon? Tell me-am I wrong?”
The words punched the breath from my lungs.
My legs felt suddenly unsteady, like the floor beneath me had cracked just enough to threater a fall.
Murmurs swelled around us, sharp and multiplying.
Eyes turned-probing, judging, some narrowing, some widening in disbelief.
One person near the front stared at me like they were trying to reconcile the girl in front of them with a stranger they never <new existed.
I opened my mouth, but Ryder’s hand moved in front of me.
A silent command: let him handle it.
‘She’s lying!” a voice barked from the crowd.
An older warrior stepped forward, face tight with anger.
‘Didn’t you almost get our Alpha killed a month ago? You think we’ll believe a word from you now?”
“Yeah!” another shouted. “If you had proof, why didn’t you bring it up after the competition instead of trying to kill Amelia?!”
A woman’s voice cut through next.
“We were at the trials, Camille! The Alpha was in the stands! You really think we’re fools?”
Another warrior shook his head.
“I used to respect you, Camille. One of our strongest omegas. But this this is beneath you.”
Camille’s laughter turned shrill, desperate She jerked against the guards so violently one of them had to tighten has grip
around her shoulders.
