Amelia’s POV

“Ryder, please” My voice cracked. “It’s me You know the

“My head he muttered. “Why does my head hurt so much?”

Dr. Merrick moved closer, his movements careful. “Alpha, I need you to stay calm Youve Vertegoed help you

“Poisoned?” Ryder’s laugh was harsh, wrong. “That’s ridiculous. I feel fine

But he didn’t look fine. His hands were shaking harder now. His eyes kept shifting between brown and gold. different people were fighting for control.

“Where’s my wolf?” Ryder asked suddenly, his voice rising with panic. “I can’t-I can’t feel hire. Where is turn

Before anyone could answer, his body convulsed. He doubled over, a scream tearing from has throws The sound we inhuman, full of agony.

“The toxin’s spreading faster,” Merrick said urgently. “We need to sedate him now before-”

Ryder’s head snapped up. His eyes were completely gold now, wild and feral. He lunged off the bed, moving speed.

Lucas jumped in front of him. “Alpha, stop!”

Ryder didn’t even hesitate. He grabbed Lucas by the throat and threw him into the wall. Lucas crumpled to the g

a groan.

“Get the sedative!” Merrick shouted at one of the nurses.

The nurse fumbled with a syringe, her hands trembling as she drew the liquid. But Ryder was already moving again like a caged animal. His breathing came in sharp, ragged gasps. Sweat poured down his face.

“Hold him!” Merrick ordered.

Three guards rushed in from the hallway. They grabbed Ryder’s arms, struggling to keep him still. He fought them with inhuman strength, snarling and thrashing.

The nurse managed to inject the sedative into his arm. For a moment, nothing happened. Then Ryder’s mover His eyes

flickered. His knees buckled.

“It’s working,” Merrick breathed. “Get him back on the bed.”

They half-carried, half-dragged Ryder to the bed. He was still conscious, but barely. His eyes kept trying to close ther snapping open again. His lips moved, forming words I couldn’t hear.

“The sedative should keep him down for a few hours,” Merrick said, wiping sweat from his forehead. ‘But it toxin is too strong.”

The door opened. A young servant girl entered, carrying a tray of medicine bottles. She couldn’t have been more than

Inceperwide and nervan as she took in the chaos.

Dr. Merrick, Fbrought the supplies you”

Ryder’s eyes flew open.

In one terrifying moment, he was off the bed. The serlative hadn’f worked ar all-or it had worn off impossibly fast. His hand shot out, grabbing the girl by her uniform.

“No!” I screamed.

He threw her across the room. She hit the medicine cabinet with a sickening crack. Glass shattered. The girl crumpled to the floor, blood streaming from a gash on her forehead.

“Someone help her!” I ran to the girl’s side, pressing my hand against her wound. She was unconscious, barely breathing. Lucas staggered to his feet, his face bruised, “We can’t control him like this. He’s going to kill someone.”

Merrick’s expression was grim. “We need to isolate him. Now. It’s the only way to keep everyone safe.”

“Isolate him where?” I asked, my voice shaking.

“There’s a reinforced room in the basement,” Merrick said. “It was built for exactly this kind of situation. We can lock him in there until we find a cure.”

“You want to lock him up like an animal?” The words felt bitter on my tongue.

“I want to keep him alive,” Merrick shot back. “And I want to keep everyone else alive too. Right now, Ryder is dangerous. His wolf is not stable, and whatever’s left doesn’t recognize friend from enemy.”

I looked at Ryder. He was standing in the corner now, his body/rigid, his eyes unfocused. He looked lost. Broken.

“Do it,” I said quietly even as my heart broke into tiny pieces/at letting him go. “Get him to the isolation room.”

It took six guards to move him. Even sedated and confused, Ryder fought every step. His strength was terrifying. By the time they got him down to the basement, two more guards had been injured.

The isolation room was exactly what it sounded like-cold stone walls, reinforced steel door, no windows. They shoved Ryder inside and locked the door behind him. The sound of the lock clicking made my stomach turn.

Through the small window in the door, I could see him. He was pacing back and forth, his movements jerky and wrong. Every few seconds, he’d stop and slam his fist against the wall, howling with rage and pain.

“Come on,” Lucas said gently, touching my shoulder. “You can’t help him by standing here.”

He was right. But leaving felt impossible.

I turned away from the window and walked back upstairs. The hospital wing was in chaos. Injured guards. Broken furniture Blood on the floor. Pack members crowded in the hallways, their faces tight with fear.

They were all looking at me.

I realized then that they were waiting. Waiting for someone to tell them what to do. Waiting for someone to take control. Ryder wasn’t here. The elders had scattered after the announcement. It was just me.

my responsibility

I took a deep breath and straightened my shoulders. “Everyone listen to me. I said, forcing my voice to carry scared. I’m scared too. But we need to stay calm”.

The crowd quieted, all eyes fixed on me

1 know you’re

“The Alpha is sick, but he’s not gone, I continued. “We’re going to find a way to heal him. In the meantime, we need to keep this pack safe and running”

I turned to Lucas. “Get all the injured to the healers. Make sure everyone who was hurt gets treated”

He nodded. “Done”

“Guards,” I said, looking at the remaining security. “I want patrols doubled. If Jasper’s poison could do this to our Alpha, we need to be ready for anything. No one goes anywhere alone.”

“Yes, Luna,” they said in unison.

“Pack members with families, I want you moved to the safe zone on the west side of the compound,” I continued. “Children and elderly first. No arguments.”

A woman raised her hand timidly. “What about supplies? Food and water?”

“Lucas, coordinate with the kitchen staff,” I said. “Make sure the safe zone is fully stocked. Enough for at least a week.”

“On it,” Lucas said.

I kept going, giving orders, making decisions, organizing the chaos. The fear was still there-sharp and cold in my chest. 1 was terrified. Terrified for Ryder, terrified of failing, terrified that I wasn’t strong enough for this.

But I couldn’t let it show. These people needed someone to lead them. They needed to believe everything would be okay, even if I wasn’t sure it would be. And Ryder-Ryder was locked in that basement, suffering. If I fell apart now, who would fight for him?

I couldn’t be weak. Not anymore. Not when everyone was depending on me.

Hours passed. Slowly, the chaos settled into order. The injured were treated. The families were moved. The patrols were set. The pack was functioning again, even without their Alpha.

Finally, when everything was done, I found Dr. Merrick in his office. He looked exhausted, slumped over his desk with papers scattered everywhere.

“Merrick,” I said quietly.

He looked up. “Luna. What can I do for you?”

“My blood,” I said. “It healed his physical wounds. Could it heal this too? Could it stop the poison?”

Merrick was quiet for a long moment. Then he sighed. “I don’t know. Maybe. But Amelia, you’re exhausted. You’ve already given so much blood today. If you try to heal him now, in your condition-

“I could die.” I finished. “I know.”

“And even if you survive,” Merrick continued, “Ryder might not recognize you. He’s not himself down there. He attacked that servant girl without a second thought. If you go to him, he could kill you.”

khow dat too said.

Merrick studied my face. “You’re going anyway, are you?”

“I have to try” My voice was steady. “He saved me. It’s protected me from the moment I met him till now. Even now the reason why he’s injured is because of me. How can I leave my mate and heart locked ire that room, suffering and alone?”

“Luna-

“I’m going. Merrick.” I met his eyes. “You can help me, or I’ll do it on my own

He stared at me for a long moment. Then he stood, reaching for his medical bag. “You’ve gotten stronger, you know that? When you first came here, you could barely move and listened. Now you’re even glving me orders.

“I had a good teacher,” I said softly

We walked down to the isolation room together. With every step, my heart pounded harder. I could already hear him-the snarls, the crashes, the sound of his fists hitting the walls.

The guards at the door looked shocked when they saw me.

“Luna, you can’t go in there,” one said. “It’s not safe.”
