AMELIA’s pov

Life after having my baby has definitely been softer. Stower. And happier.

In spite of how Ryder had fought tooth and nail for me not in keep the baby earlier he has definitely turned out to be the best father ever to our little Noah.

Sometimes I catch myself watching them just to make sure they’re real. As I blinked too long, this life might disapp

I watched him while he paced our room with the baby in his hands. He had been crying, and this was the one sure way to get him quiet, and eventually back to sleep.

“You’re so effortlessly good with him.” I said effortlessly from where I lay in bed.

Ryder turned to me and smiled, “He makes it easy. Plus, it’s late, and you should try to get some sleep.”

He adjusted Noah against his chest with surprising care for someone built with incredible strength. Our baby looked ridiculously tiny in his arms.

“Yeah.” I sighed, “I was just watching you, and I couldn’t help but feel gratefurand happy that aft of the chaos and tension we experienced months ago is finally over.”

His expression grew emotional, and I sensed he had a whole lot to say about that, but he finally just said, “Me too.”

“Good night, Ryder.”

“Good night, Amelia.” He quietly walked toward me and pressed a kiss to my lips, “Sweet dreams.” His lips lingered for a second longer than usual. Like he needed reassurance too.

I woke up the next day feeling stronger. Honestly, I’d actually noticed it for quite some time now.

Ever since I gave birth to Noah, I had grown more and more strong with each day that passed by.

“It’s not just my ability to carry heavier objects.” I explained to Ryder while I told him about my new physiological findings,” But you know I’ve been back to training, right?”

“Right?” Ryder said while we sat in the garden together.

“I can take down my trainers now, with so little effort. Which is crazy, considering the fact that they used to be stronger than me.”

Ryder considered my words for a moment.

“The healer had told me that giving you my blood would make you stronger. I suppose that strength is finally manifesting itself.”

“That’s really cool. But that isn’t all of it.”

“Let’s have it then.” Ryder said and he actually sounded pleased.

“I stayed back while the stronger warriors were training yesterday, and it turns out they also train their minds to have greater defense against mind control?”

“yes. “Ryder said, and nodded, “Some of the enemy packs have warriors who possess the mind, so we always try to train against such possession.”

“yeah, well, while I was there, that mind defense came easier for the warriors. Some even said they could feel the usual prickling sensation in their minds, and it only happened when I was there.”

Ryder’s attention seemed to have peaked and I smiled. He was definitely going to love the next part of what I had to say. “So what does that mean exactly?”

“I mean, we tested the theory. They tried their mind control practices when I exited the room, and when I returned they said their defenses only went so far. But somehow my presence made it easy again.”

“So you’re like a mental shield of some sorts?”

“Well, maybe. Sometimes wolves possess gifts and powers, it’s possible that your blood didn’t just make me stronger, but established some kind of shielding powers within me.”

“Amelia, this is great news!” Ryder murmured in starbuch

He chuckled lightly and pulled me in for a bear hug, “This is the greatest thing ever.”

I smiled, and huggert him right back.

Cafier that day we put my new powers to the test, and it turned out I was actually an established mental shield. I trained, boff my mind and Budy, and in time, I was able to evolve from being a limited omega who needed all the protection she could get, into a warmor Lune capable of protecting my clan.

Mine and Ryder’s.

For the first time in my life, I didn’t feel like someone the pack had to guard. I felt like bemeone they could stand behind. “Turns out it’s not just you who has strange gifts.” Ryder said with a smile as I came out of the shower one evening. I had been training while he took care of the baby, and the sight of him standing over the baby’s crib still caught me off guard. “What are you talking about?” I said and he gestured for me to come over.

“Come see.” He whispered and I slowly made my way to Noah’s crib.

“Oh my.” I whispered and slapped my hand over my mouth.
