AMELIA’s pov

“Damned little mutt! You must be out of your mind! How could you think that she’s your mother?” Camille reached for Noah and once again snatched him away from me.

“No!” I yelled, lunging forward, fingers barely brushing the sleeve of his shirt before someone slammed into my shoulder and shoved me back.

The crowd who were in Camille’s favor were already scampering to stand between them and me. So I was forced to watch while Camille clung to my pup with a firm grip.

“Let me go!” Noah cried, but Camille wouldn’t listen. Instead she drew out a dagger and slit his wrist.

“How dare you?” I yelled, when I saw that she had drawn blood. I wanted to run to them, but so many stood in my way now.

They were really testing my patience. If they kept standing in my way, and if Camille heid on to my pup any longer, this place was about to become a blood bath.

“You’ve been a naughty boy, and now you have to face the consequences.” Camille said to Noah as she dragged him to a fountain close by. It had water flowing into a sink and Camille dipped Noah’s bleeding hand into it, so that the once clear water turned into red.

“What the hell are you doing?” I asked in shocked outrage, but Camille only ignored me and turned to the rest of her supporting crowd.

“You’ve all travelled far and have worked really hard. “She gestured toward the red fountain water mixed with Noah’s blood, “Let this puppy’s blood be a gift to you all. As you all well know, he is a descendant of the moon goddess. so his blood contains powerful magic. Drink and be satisfied!”

The crowd cheered and some rushed forward to drink from the fountain that had blood in it.

“You are truly a blessing, Camille. ” One of the women in the crowd cried, “I have heard that even a drop of blood from the moon goddess can have healing properties.”

“taste and see then.” Camille said magnanimously, and something all but snapped inside of me.

My nails dug into my palms so hard I felt skin break.

“How dare you?!” I roared and pushed past the crowds blocking my path, “You dare to use my puppy’s blood to curry favors? Are you mad?”

“Your puppy? Oh please.” Jasper drawled, stepping forward to stand at Camille’s side. I could see by the smile on his face that he enjoyed how this was favoring them, “Camille gave birth to that pup. We have pictures to prove it’

Gasps rippled through the crowd. Whispers of doubts, hinting at my ‘delusion’ and I balled my hands in tists, ready to swing.

“Your eyes are all red, Amelia. Do you want to punch something?” Camille taunted and added in a much more quiet tone. “You should know that it’s all your fault though. Every ounce of pain this pup feels? It’s all because of you” She added, and

smirked.

“You squirmy worm.” I spat and in a fit of rage, I let out a roar before transforming into my wolt form once again.

Without warning, I pounced on Camille, and she fell backward on the ground with a loud cry.

“You get the hell away from her!” Jasper yelled, and ambushed me, pushing me off his beloved Camille.

“You bloody whore! Because you have a wolf now, you think you can beat us!” Jasper gritted out and raised his hand to strike me. But Ryder came at him just in time, with full strength and punched him again and again until I smelled blood.

The blood of vermin.

“Come here!” Camille spat, reaching for Noah who tried to escape her again, “I’m not letting you out of my sight!”

“Take a hint, Camille. The boy is repulsed by you.” Ryder snapped, and was about to pounce on her, but she quickly held Noah in front of her like some kind of shield

“You take another step and I swear I’ll slit his throat.” Camille threatened, holding up her dagger. “Then all of this town’s fork will drink of his blood and have great strength.”

Ryder paused where he stood and Camille smiled like she had won.

“That’s right, just back off.” Camille spat.

“You spilled my blood and now you’re using me as a shield?!” Noah cried, “Dream on. I know this woman is my mother! I feel it in my heart!”

“Oh shut it.” Camille cried and clamped her hand around Noah’s throat, “You have quite a mouth on you. How dare you disobey my order?!”

“Don’t you hurt him!” I roared angrily.
