Chapter 92
AMELIA’s pov
Every werewolf present here looked so miserable and drained. But there was a particular one that I was looking for.
“Miranda! “I yelled the natne of the witch’s sister. The one I was asked to find. I just knew she had to be among the werewolves here. “Miranda!” I called again and this time, a weak voice responded.
“I’m here.” She said the voice weakly and I quickly rushed toward her. Her eyes were swollen and tired, and felt so m compassion toward her.
“Hi, Miranda. Your sister sent me to you. She’s been looking for you and has been so worried.” I said softly and Mirand out a broken sob.
“I knew it.” she said weakly, “I just knew my sister would come for me.”
“yes.” I said urgently, “She sent me to you and she’s desperate to see you.”
But the look Miranda gave me when I said those words made me feel like I was too late.
“No.” Miranda said and shook her head, “I can’t leave now. You see these magical circles?” She asked.
I looked at the white substance that formed white circular lines around her and nodded.
“It’s like a cage.” Miranda explained, “It keeps all of us bound here.”
“Then we’ll find a way to break it.” I said sharply, “Because I’m not leaving you here.
Miranda smiled at me weakly.
“I know you want to help, and I know my sister would like nothing more…but it’s futile. Don’t waste your time.”
I opened my mouth to speak, but no words formed. I didn’t like the idea of her giving up this way.
I heard footsteps behind me, and I turned to see Ryder behind me, with Noah and his side.
“Amelia, I think I understand the magic in this place. These magical circles are irreversible, and it seems some of them eve have ancient texts written close to them.”
I looked around the other circles and confirmed his words.
“Then why don’t we try to reverse the texts? Won’t reversing it undo the magic?”
“I’m not sure, Amelia. I think the only way the magical circles will fade away is when the wolves bound to the magic have been completely drained to death.”
“No.” I murmured, and the wolves present seemed to be distressed by Ryder’s words, because they began to beg for reprieve..
“Just kill us now!” one cried, “We can’t stand being tortured any longer.”
“Please, Help us!” Another cried, and tried to reach out to me, but she was too far away, “Please destroy these magical circles that keep us bound, that way we won’t have to keep enduring this pain!”
I looked at them with pity and felt at a complete loss.
I turned to Ryder, nearly in tears, “I don’t know if I can save all of them. So many vibrant lives…”
Chapter 92
It broke my heart completely.
‘I could try Ryder murmured and suddenly shifted into his wolf form, and drew close to the edge of Miranda circle
“But… what do you want to do?” I asked him.
I want to try to destroy the magical circle. He stated, “Perhaps if I manage to do that, then I can free them all from be trapped here. Their energy won’t be extracted any longer, and they can have an early release.”
I felt unsure, but he didn’t wait for my response. Instead, his wolf began to gather enough strength for him to destroy Miranda’s circle, as well as every other circle present here.
I watched with unease as Ryder pulled on more energy. He soon began howling with pain, and it became too much for
to watch.
“Ryder! Stop, it’s too much for you!” I yelled, but he didn’t heed to my words. He didn’t stop, “Ryder! Please!”
I felt small hands tugging at my sleeves and looked down to acknowledge Noah.
“If he continues to force the destruction of the circle, I think it might kill him.” Noah said with wide eyes and my panic grew.
“Ryder!” I yelled again, this time with more intensity. “You need to stop this right now!”
“Amelia.” Miranda coughed, forcing my attention back to her, “I need you to give a message to my sister.”
She coughed again, before handing me a note.
“Please tell her..” She coughed again, albeit weakly this time, “That she doesn’t need to avenge me. Jasper and his kins are treacherous, backed by powerful forces… and they need to be stopped.”
I looked down at the note and nodded sadly. I wish it didn’t have to end like this for Miranda. I wished there was another way.
Right then, Ryder’s wolf suddenly unleashed another full–power strike that shattered through every magical circle in that small chamber. And all of the werewolves that were once bound, suddenly collapsed.
They were all dead.
“Oh.” I sobbed and felt my eyes grow moist.
The sound of Ryder coughing drew me out of myself and looked up to find him coughing up blood.
“Ryder!” I cried and quickly rushed to his side. “Come on, let’s get you out of here.”
