Chapter 91

AMELIA’S POV

E 20 vo

“Is today’s energy extraction ready?” I heard Jasper ask one of the soldiers that was with him, and the soldier nodded emphatically.

“The witch is all set, she’s just waiting for a word from you and it’s all yours for your enjoyment.” the soldier remarked and Jasper grinned from ear to ear.

“Come on.” Jasper said to Camille and they walked into the next room together.

“Energy extraction.” I whispered and looked up at Ryder in confusion, “Do you know what that is?”

Ryder’s face was grim, and his eyes burning coals, “just go in, and you’ll see it for yourself.”

And by the look on his face, I just knew it had to be diabolical.

“Wait.” I said, before we moved any further. I reached into my pocket and brought out a pouch filled with toxic powder.

“What’s that?” Ryder asked and I smirked.

“Just one whiff of this, and it’ll send all those soldiers to sleep.” I whispered, and taking a step forward I scattered across the soldiers keeping watch.

“What?” One of the soldiers murmured, already delirious. He tried to rise, but he couldn’t stay on his two feet, and staggered, passing out across the floor. So was the fat of the other soldiers with him.

“Cool.” Ryder remarked looking at the men passed out on the ground, “Didn’t ever have to move a muscle or anything.

I smiled up at him, “We’re saving our energy for the real perpetrators today.” I said let him lead Noah and I toward a window.

We hid in its narrow gap and kept watch for Jasper, Camille and their wicked witch.

I watched in horror as the witch held up a clear circular globe and channeled some magical energy through it, while murmuring some spells.

“What is she doing?” Ryder whispered and I reached up to cover his lips. We couldn’t afford to be heard.

Once the witch had channeled all the available magic into the globe, she used another spell to transfer all of the magical energy into Jasper and Camille.

While a bright light glowed around those two, I listened closely and heard the agonized howls of wolves from close by.

“What sorcery is this?” I whispered, completely blown away by this magic.

the energy the witch is channeling is very pure…” Noah said softly/

“But it’s also a sinister act” Ryder said grimly, and the cries of pain intensified, as though to prove what he just said.

As the glowing embers of light surrounding the two diabolical couples began to fade away, I noticed that Jasper and Camille’s wolf essence seemed to grow stronger

“They absorbed all that magic.” I realized, and it finally dawned on me that this was possibly the process that had helped them heal so quickly

“How do you feel?” The witch asked them, when the ritual was over, “Powerful?”

Jasper smiled from ear to ear. To answer the witch, he effortlessly picked up the desk like it was feather light and tossed across the room. It landed with a loud thud.

‘Does that answer your question?” Jasper asked, and the witch smiled, pleased with herself.

“And you?” the witch asked Camille and she smiled.

“I feel like I can take down that b*tch, Amelia with one fatal blow.” Camille said spitefully and Ryder clung to me tight.

“I’m glad this ritual works, but I should let you know that in as much as this ritual will help you heal quickly and strengt you, it will only work for a limited amount of time. If you want to keep this up, we’re going to need more wolves to repl the ritual.” the witch emphasized.

“Don’t you worry, we’ll get some more prey to keep this ritual going. I wouldn’t dare risk not doing so, not when I feel sc strong and powerful.” Jasper said, flexing his fingers and I gasped in response.

This time it was Ryder who had to cover my mouth with his hand.

But I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. This wasn’t just any strengthening ritual. This was one that required taking the strength and essence of another. A ‘prey‘ as the witch had said.

While I thought about all this, Jasper, Camille and the witch left the room where the ritual had just taken place, and Noal piped up.

“The witch asked for a prey?” He asked and I nodded, “But what kind of prey would be so strong? Strong enough to help them heal so fast and give them so much strength?”

I sighed and shook my head, “I don’t know, Baby. But I supposed we’re here to find out. Come on.”

I led them into the room. When we got inside, we saw a small door that probably led into a chamber, but it had a strong

lock.

“Of course.” Ryder said when he saw it.

“Do you think you can break it?” I asked him, and he nodded grimly.
