Evelyn knew she was being pathetic, but what dignity was left when you loved someone this much?
Then, Xavier finally spoke.
"Since when did you start playing tracking games?"
Evelyn's heart sank. Her hands instinctively balled into fists by her sides. "Tracking? Did you forget I'm your wife? If I want to know where you are, I can just call you. I don't need to stalk you."
Xavier didn't believe a single word.
"I'll warn you one last time. I can overlook you following me today, but do not mess with Vickie." His tone was freezing, every syllable laced with command.
Evelyn's mood plummeted entirely. All her hopeful thoughts from moments ago felt like a brutal slap to the face, mocking her pathetic wishful thinking.
Taking a deep breath, a cynical smirk touched her lips. "If you really care about your little sweetheart so much, you shouldn't provoke me like this. Who knows what might happen if you push me over the edge?"
Xavier's brows locked together. "Are you threatening me?"
"Hardly. You're my husband, why would I threaten you? Think of it more as a friendly tip. Actually, I have another great piece of advice for you. Want to hear it?"
