Leilani.
I have no idea if it is because of the things I have planned out and kept tucked up my sleeves, but the hours have been moving at an impressive speed. Seconds bled into minutes which bled into hours and the next thing I know, I was shoving a box of my wedding dress into the back of my car.
My knuckles were chalky white as I gripped hard onto the steering wheel and my body thrummed with every emotion there is as I drove all the way to the hotel.
For some reason, I didn’t trust Darius enough to believe that he was incapable of planting something in my car, so after pretending to curse out the triplets over the phone, I shoved my phone into my pocket and continued to drive.
The drive to the hotel I wanted to spend the night took approximately twenty-five minutes. Checking in took about a quarter of that time. My hand remained glued to my box as I was led to my suite and just as the door clicked close behind me, I threw the box containing the wedding dress on the floor and rushed into the bathroom.
I then turned on all the running water and called my father first to inform him of the success. He was glad.
Next off, I called the triplets and even though they were worried out of their minds, they were at least glad that they had an idea of where I would be spending the night, and for the next couple of hours, arrangements were made. Calls were put through and everything needed to throw Darius behind bars was put in place.
I could not sleep until it was well past 3:00am and by the time I finally woke up, it was to the sound of the incessant knocking of the makeup artist on my door and some other people that had been sent by Darius.
I forced myself out of bed, groaning as I wrapped my robe around my body. My hands shook from hunger and tiredness as I pried the door open only to freeze for a millisecond at the crowd of people already waiting there.
One was a videographer, about two were hairstylists working together. There were about three stylists and two make-up artists.
I shook my head with a smile. "Darius is extra."
As soon as I pushed the door open, these people crowded into the room, almost pushing me out of the way in the process. I walked off to settle on my bed, watching them scurry about with urgency while keeping things in order.
The videographers made sure to capture everything on camera while the stylists and make-up artists made sure to doll me up as much as they could; and by the time they were done, I could barely recognize the stranger that stared back at me in the mirror.
All I knew was that she was pretty, too pretty it was a shame that I was wasting such prettiness for something so unreal.
I was snapped out of my thoughts when I felt a slight tug and blinking, I turned to find one of the make-up artists— the younger one— standing beside me. She smiled shyly. "You are beautiful."
I could not help it, I blushed. "Thank you." I said, and then we settled into silence, watching the beautiful reflection stare back at us for a couple of seconds.
When I was satisfied with how I looked and had managed to calm my raging heartbeat until I no longer felt the urge to disappear, I got into the waiting Maserati that drove me all the way to the Valemont’s territory. The ride was silent— not like it mattered at the time and when the car doors pulled open moments later, my breath was stolen.
The place was grande in every sense of the word. The extremely large compound was filled with people, boys, girls... men and women who held real power all dressed in expensive looking clothes.
Their eyes were all sharp, all scrutinizing as they watched me step out of the car and with my head raised stubbornly, I walked past them, flanked my security and some staff.
At the very end of the compound, very close to the main doors stood the dais. The security flanking me stopped walking as soon as we got there, leaving me to walk up the rest of the way alone.
As I went, I couldn’t help but take nervous glances around, wondering why my father and the triplets were nowhere to be found yet. My heart raced as I soon began to fear that they might arrive a little too late— a little after I must’ve tied the knot with Darius which was not the plan.
Halfway up the makeshift altar, Darius walked over to loop his arm in mine. His eyes were so soft, I nearly blanched. He held me with the precision a person would employ in holding a fragile egg and began to lead me up the altar.

Did I just fall into his trap?
