Jason glanced over, giving a nod of approval. "It suits Ms. Maggie's vibe perfectly. This 10-carat gem, Ms. Maggie, does its size meet your expectations?"
Diana was thrilled. "I love it!"
Sophia kept her eyes on Jason, puzzled by his intentions.
"Great, let's secure this 10-carat gem for Ms. Maggie!" Jason instructed his assistant.
"Right away!" The assistant proceeded to place the order.
Diana beamed, "This diamond, it's called a gem? Sounds lovely!"
"Now that the gem is yours, Ms. Maggie, you're welcome to name it yourself!" Jason said softly. "Next, let's discuss the setting design for the gem."
Diana, a bit carried away by Jason's words, shared many design ideas, which Jason had Sophia take note of.
"We'll craft the engagement ring to Ms. Maggie's specifications, perfectly. You'll have the design sketches in two days," Jason said with a gentle smile, directing his assistant, "Please calculate the cost for Ms. Maggie!"
The assistant worked out the price and handed Diana the quote, "Ms. Maggie, the cost for the gem, the ring, and the design fees comes to $66,500. We require a 30% deposit, so today, you'll need to pay $19,950, and our Ms. Jones can start designing your ring."
"What?" Diana stood up when the assistant mentioned $66,500, her lips twitching, "That's... that's so expensive?"
"The price of the gem is listed here, as you saw!" the assistant explained. "And Ms. Jones's design fees are clearly marked as well."
Diana felt a wave of panic. She had been so focused on the gem that she hadn't paid attention to the price, thinking it would be much less!
She thought Robin would buy it for her if it was just a few thousand, but now it was over sixty thousand dollars, and she was overwhelmed.
"I... I didn't see the price clearly," Diana said, her face flushed with embarrassment and panic.
Diana's face had fallen, "What is this about?"
Jason's gaze was icy, "Ms. Maggie, you're planning to get engaged to Joe, right? Naturally, he should be the one to pay for the ring. You weren't planning to, were you?"
Diana choked. How could she afford such an amount?
"I don't want the ring anymore!" Diana said, grabbing her bag to leave.
Jason sat back, his demeanor calm and cool, "Is Ms. Maggie playing games with us, or is the engagement a farce? After all, with Joe's wealth, $66,500 is trivial. Are you worried he can't afford it?"
Diana glanced at Sophia guiltily, "Of course, the engagement is real!"
Jason, with his composed and earnest demeanor, added, "I truly hope so, sincerely."
