Sophia slipped out of his embrace and pulled back the curtains, letting the sunshine flood the room with warmth.
Under the glow, Sophia turned with a playful smile, "It's sunny out!"
Jason leaned against the headboard, quietly watching her, his usually stern face softened with warmth.
Sophia still went to the guest bathroom to freshen up. Coming back, she found a new set of clothes laid out on the bed, even lingerie included.
The pajamas from yesterday were recommended by a saleslady, so what about these clothes?
She realized that when the dynamics between two people change, seeing things from a different perspective reveals how considerate and tender the other has always been towards her.
Well, maybe "tender" was a stretch.
Muttering to herself, Sophia picked up the clothes and got dressed.
At 7:30, they left the house together, stopping at a diner for breakfast. Sophia also made a point to visit a pharmacy to pick up some cold and cough medicine.
Approaching the office, Sophia turned to Jason, "Showing up together might give the wrong impression to the studio folks. Maybe I should get off here before we turn the corner."
Jason shot her a "death glare," "You've been watching too many rom-coms, haven't you?"
The morning passed without incident, probably because of the holiday spirit; everyone was in a good mood. Moreover, Mr. Gilder had announced that the staff could leave early in the afternoon to celebrate.
Sophia had finalized the design for Mr. Waldo's anniversary jewelry, and upon his approval, she handed it over to GK Jewelry studio for production.
So, the morning was relatively relaxed.
Her assistant brought her a cup of hot cocoa, grinning, "Sophia, Mr. Gilder's been around again today, have you noticed?"
Picking up, she answered, "Hello, Snowy Studios."
"Sophia, it's me!"
Hearing Robin's voice, Sophia's expression cooled, "Didn't I tell you to stop calling me?"
"Sophia, I was waiting under your apartment all night!" Robin's voice was hoarse, "You weren't home, were you?"
She hadn't turned on her room lights all night, and he hadn't seen her leave in the morning.
Sophia replied, "Where I am is none of your business."
"Sophia, you once told me you've loved me for many years. I was moved by you and genuinely wanted to date. But now, you won't even see me?" Robin's voice strained with pain, "After all these years, even if things end, shouldn't we at least give each other closure?"
