Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) novel Chapter 2729

Henson nodded. “I know.”

He then looked at Xavier. “Gonzalez, follow me.”

Xavier gave a slight nod, said goodbye to Janice, and walked with Henson toward his room.

Norah was about to follow when Janice suddenly grabbed her wrist. “Where are you going? I just saw Adrian Chambers arrive. Go talk to Adrian, don’t bother Henson.”

Norah was reluctant. “So what if he’s here? I see him at work every day.”

“He’s a guest today,” Janice insisted.

“What if he is? It’s not my job to entertain the guests!” Norah huffed. “I had a little wine earlier, I’m feeling a bit dizzy.”

“Don’t make excuses. I know you’re just looking for trouble with Henson!” Janice said, pulling her downstairs without another word.

Norah glanced back but didn’t dare make a scene about going to find Xavier, afraid Janice would suspect something. She had no choice but to follow her back to the courtyard.

Upstairs in the room, Henson closed the door and handed Xavier a bottle of water, explaining,

“My mom is really smart, so I had to call you over. It’s probably best she doesn’t know about you and my sister for now.”

Xavier took the water. “Thanks.”

“Don’t mention it!” Henson grinned, his voice a bit low as it was changing. “But you’ll have to stay in my room for a while, so my mom doesn’t get suspicious.”

Xavier said, “I don’t want to hold you up.”

“I’ve got nothing to do. I finished my homework, and I don’t have school tomorrow.” Henson grabbed his phone and walked toward the balcony, looking back at Xavier. “Wanna play a game? I’ll invite Estelle, we can play a few rounds.”

Xavier followed him, a faint smile on his lips. “Does she have time for games right now?”

Henson was taken aback for a moment, then raised his eyebrows. “So, it’s one-sided?”

Xavier seemed to be concentrating on a quest and didn’t reply.

Henson’s fingers flew across the screen. He shrugged. “She can be pretty dense, and stubborn too. She had a boyfriend in college, but she broke up with him as soon as she realized he was unreliable. But for the past few years, she’s been stuck in this rut and can’t seem to get out.”

“She’s always glued to her phone, waiting for a message. One day she’s happy, the next she’s gloomy. It’s exhausting just watching her.”

Xavier’s expression was grim. A heavy feeling settled in his chest, and his focus on the game wavered. He was quickly killed.

Henson glanced at Xavier, his eyes holding a teenager's earnest clarity, yet also a maturity beyond his years.

“She’s younger than you, Gonzalez. She hasn’t experienced as much as you, and she isn’t as mature. You should cut her some slack. She may like you, but she won’t do anything too out of line.”

Xavier thought to himself, *Does forcibly kissing him count as out of line?*
