She focused on the moon, its light clear and bright. The walls, flowers, and trees cast reflections on one another, creating a scene of rustic tranquility, while the colorful lights blurred into a soft glow. The people and food in the foreground were also hazy silhouettes.
Jonathan replied instantly, [And you?]
Estelle smiled faintly. [We can't see each other for the next two days. It's tradition.]
Jonathan: [Not even in a picture?]
Estelle: [Nope!]
Jonathan: [I'll pretend to believe you.]
Estelle couldn't help but grin.
As they were chatting, Marina answered a video call from Carson. On the screen, he was standing on high ground, showing off the lively pre-wedding scene at the entire estate.
Marina held the phone up for everyone to see.
Magdalen immediately leaned in. "Where's my Morrison Langston? I want to see Morrison!"
Marina called out with a laugh, "Mr. Foster, show Morrison to Magdalen!"
Carson's elegant, smiling voice came through. "Anyone else want to see their husband? I'll show them all at once!"
Sophia raised her hand. "I want to see Mr. Gilder!"
Since Sophia was a bridesmaid, Jason had volunteered to be a groomsman and was also at the estate.
Carson walked down a set of stairs, the screen shaking slightly. They could see the lawn teeming with people attending the evening banquet, setting off fireworks, and some were even dancing and singing. It was a true party-at-midnight scene.
At the bottom of the stairs, a long dining table stretched across the lawn, laden with an impressive array of drinks. Jonathan sat at the head of the table, with the others seated casually around him, drinking and chatting.
Charlie was holding Kya, making him stand out. When Kya saw the phone, she shouted excitedly, "Daddy, I see Mommy!"
Jonathan reached out and took the phone from Carson. His eyes were dark and deep, filled with affection as he gazed at her. His voice was low and gentle. "What are you eating?"
Estelle showed him the fish roll dipped in sauce, then popped it into her mouth, her cheeks puffing out as she chewed.
Jonathan felt a pang of longing, wishing he could drive over to the Jarvis estate right that second.
His voice was soft. "All you do is eat. Why didn't you reply to my last message?"
Estelle mumbled through her food, "I did!"
Jonathan: "You didn't reply to the last one."
Carson laughed beside him. "Jonah's voice is so sweet it could melt butter. I can't take it!"
Josiah James teased, "If you miss Marina, you could have just called her in private. Did you have to rub it in our faces?"
