The group made their way to the back courtyard, with everyone crowding around them. Jonathan’s tall, elegant figure, followed by his entourage of distinguished groomsmen, truly turned the covered walkway of the Jarvis estate into a runway.
Suddenly, Jonathan stopped. The others halted as well, looking ahead in surprise.
Stretching across the two-meter-wide corridor was a section filled with a dense web of red silk threads, tangled and interwoven in a dizzying display.
Harriet, dressed in a gossamer bridesmaid gown, stood on the other side of the threads, smiling at Jonathan. “They say destiny is tied by a single red thread! First, congratulations on your marriage to our boss, Mr. Lamont. I wish you a lifetime of happiness and beautiful children soon!”
Jonathan’s handsome face held a refined smile. “Thank you.”
Charlie spoke up. “Ms. Harriet, what are the rules? Just tell us.”
Harriet raised her hand, a single thread looped around her index finger. “There are ten red threads here,” she said with a faint smile. “You can see ten ends on your side. One of them is connected to the thread on my finger. Your task is to find it, hold the end in your mouth, and thread it through the needle I’m holding. If you succeed, you can proceed to the next challenge.”
The task was incredibly difficult. One wrong choice could tangle all the strings into an impassable knot.
There would essentially be no second chance.
Carson smiled handsomely. “And if we choose incorrectly?”
Harriet’s lips curved. “If you choose incorrectly, each groomsman will take a penalty of ten drinks. Then you’ll have to say, ‘Courtney, you’ve worked hard,’ and if I’m in a good mood, I might let you pass. Also,” she added, raising an eyebrow, “don’t think ten drinks is nothing. I should remind you all that there are more challenges ahead. You’d be wise to conserve your stamina and sobriety.”
The crowd in the courtyard and under the opposite wooden walkway fell silent, their eyes wide with fascination.
Some even began studying the threads, trying to figure out which one was connected to Harriet’s. But the more they looked, the more confused they became, unable to find any clue.
Just as everyone was waiting in anticipation, Charlie chuckled. “Can we raise the stakes a bit?”
His question surprised the onlookers, and even Harriet raised an eyebrow. She looked at Jonathan. “Mr. Lamont, have you ever suspected that one of your own men has been turned by our side?”
“Ms. Harriet, you already agreed! You have to keep your word!”
“Don’t worry, Ms. Harriet. Mr. James’s condition only applies if they get through the threads, and I don’t see how anyone can!”

Sunrise Villa
Estelle sat on her bed, watching a large screen that clearly displayed everything happening in the corridor.
When Magdalen heard Charlie’s demand, she scoffed. “Charlie really knows how to stir the pot. It seems he’s met his match.”
Estelle raised an eyebrow. “Charlie seems very confident.”

As the plot thicken. Adrian is done for and he can't try to control Norah, so he'd probably tattle to Janice who's gone for two weeks. Thank you soooo much for the updates....
