Gabriel's brow furrowed slightly as he pressed her head back onto his shoulder. "Go to sleep."
"Okay," Sylvia replied obediently.
She really did close her eyes.
But a few minutes later, she couldn't resist. Her eyes, sparkling like a river of stars, fixated on the man's Adam's apple, and her fingers slowly drifted toward it.
The man's neck was long and elegant, with hard, defined lines, while the woman's hand was as white and delicate as polished jade. Her nails were unadorned except for a clear coat that gave them a glossy, cherry-pink sheen as they rested on his throat.
Sylvia's eyes were half-closed as she murmured, "Can I kiss it?"
He glanced down at her, his lips curling. "No."
Sylvia frowned. "Why not?"
His own brow creased. "Sylvia, are you faking it? If you're not drunk, get down and walk yourself."
Sylvia immediately snatched her hand back from his neck and wrapped her arms tightly around him instead.
To get from the castle to the guest villas, you either had to take a boat or drive the long way around. Gabriel hadn't driven, so he simply carried her, taking the long route across the bridge to the other side.
Her voice, softened by the alcohol, asked, "Why didn't we take the boat?"
"I was worried you'd throw up on me if it rocked," the man said calmly.
"Then why didn't we drive?" Sylvia asked again.
"How can I drive while holding you?" he countered.
"I could sit in the passenger seat."
"And how could I hold you if you were in the passenger seat?"
Sylvia thought for a moment and decided he had a point, so she settled back onto his shoulder with a clear conscience.
Back at the villa, he carried her up to the second floor, laid her on the bed in her room, took off her shoes, and pulled the covers over her.
The man leaned down. "Are you feeling unwell anywhere?"
The man's body leaned lower and lower. As he had admitted himself, he always found himself indulging her without limit.
Much later, just as the kitten was about to kiss her favorite toy, the man stopped. He straightened up, his expression calm and controlled, and tucked the blanket around her. "You've been drinking. Get some sleep."
Sylvia licked her lips, now an even deeper shade of red, and nodded obediently.
"Good night, Mr. Carnes."
"I'm in the room across from you. Call me if you don't feel well," Gabriel instructed in a low voice.
"I know."
"Sleep."
He turned off her bedside lamp but left the curtains open so she could watch the fireworks as she drifted off.
In the flickering light of the room, Sylvia watched the man's tall figure open the door and leave, plunging the room into silence.

As the plot thicken. Adrian is done for and he can't try to control Norah, so he'd probably tattle to Janice who's gone for two weeks. Thank you soooo much for the updates....
