But Old Mr. Jarvis didn't want Evelyn to bother Estelle and her friends. "Evelyn doesn't know anyone else. It would be more awkward for her to sit there. She'd be better off going back to sleep."
Evelyn said sheepishly, "Old Mr. Jarvis is right. I do feel a bit tired. I think I'll head back to bed."
"Then let's go together," Old Mr. Quintin said, not pushing the matter further.
Millard, who had been standing by, immediately arranged for a car to take Old Mr. Jarvis and Old Mr. Quintin back to their villa.
Jonathan also walked over to join Estelle in seeing them off.
Old Mr. Jarvis pulled Jonathan aside before getting into the car and gave him a few private instructions, which Jonathan listened to with a serious expression.
Once the car drove away, Estelle asked the man beside her, "What did Grandpa say to you?"
Jonathan took her hand and led her back toward the banquet, glancing back with a soft smile. "Grandpa was praising me."
Estelle gave him a look that said she didn't believe him.
She had changed into a simpler tiara, and her smile was gentle, her eyes sparkling like stars.
Jonathan wrapped an arm around her waist, stopped walking, and leaned in to kiss her.
Estelle's eyes darted around. His lips covered hers, and she could only manage a muffled protest. "If Charlie and the others see, they'll start hassling you to drink again!"
Jonathan kissed the corner of her mouth, his voice low and husky. "Let's slip away from them and go back first."
Estelle blinked. "We can't."
Jonathan sighed. "Why did we even plan an evening banquet? We should have sent them all on their way right after lunch, then the entire evening would have been ours."
"Well, now you have experience for next time," Estelle said.
"I'm heading out now. Have fun, and be happy every day from now on."
It was signed: Your best friend, Manley.
Estelle looked up at Magdalen. "Manley left?"
"He's gone," Magdalen said with a smile. "Don't worry, I had a few drinks with him. He seemed to be doing alright."
Estelle nodded and sent Manley a text: [Got everything. I'm starting to prepare your wedding gift now, so don't disappoint me.]
Manley replied quickly: [Does that mean the later I get married, the more lavish the gift will be?]
Estelle smiled. [In your dreams!]
Manley: [I took Lambert Brennan with me. I'll show him around J City for a few days and then send him packing. You go enjoy your honeymoon in peace.]
