Estelle asked Magdalen, surprised, "Manley took Lambert with him?"
Magdalen raised an eyebrow. "Lambert was drunk and kept shouting about challenging Jonathan to a drinking contest. Manley had someone drag him away. He probably took him back to J City to keep him from causing you any trouble."
Estelle nodded. She felt relieved knowing Lambert was with Manley.
Jonathan looked over. "What did Manley get you?"
"A castle," Estelle answered truthfully.
Jonathan picked up the note Manley had written, glanced at it, and remarked with a cold sneer, "He certainly knows how to play the generous friend."
Estelle arched a brow. "What, does that mean Mr. Lamont knows about the Scott family's affairs?"
"Mr. Lamont?" The man looked up at her, his voice low and magnetic from the wine.
Estelle knew when to be practical and quickly corrected herself. "Husband."
Only then did Jonathan smile warmly and explain, "Did you think the Hammer family would give up so easily? Two percent is no small amount."
Estelle's eyes lit up with understanding. "You helped the Scott family?"
"More specifically, I helped Vicente Scott. But it wasn't for free. We've always had an agreement." Jonathan wrapped an arm around her shoulder, resting his forehead against her cheek. His wine-tinged lips brushed against her skin. "Are they being too loud?"
Estelle's lips were rosy as she whispered back, "I heard they're planning to haze us in the bridal chamber."
Jonathan raised an eyebrow. "Is that so? What should we do? We can't let them ruin our wedding night."
Estelle looked at him with her picturesque eyes. "I'm leaving it to you."
"What are you two whispering about?" Charlie suddenly called out. "There's a rule, you know. The bride and groom aren't allowed to whisper tonight. Whatever you say has to be heard by everyone!"
Carson laughed. "In that case, I should be thanking you for the opportunity, Jonah!"
"You're welcome," Jonathan replied coolly.
After a round of laughter, Morrison glanced at the time and said to Magdalen, "It's getting late. Let's go back and leave the rest of the night to the bride and groom."
Charlie had a moment of realization and looked at Carson. "I told you our Mr. Lamont never does anything without a reason. So that's what that toast was for!"
Carson was thoroughly impressed. "I really need to learn a thing or two from Jonah."
Magdalen, who had changed into a long evening gown, was clearly half-drunk. She leaned against Estelle and shook her head. "No, today's too happy. I don't want it to end."
"We can get together again soon, but Mr. Lamont only gets one wedding night. Be good now," Morrison said in a doting tone.
Suddenly, Magdalen remembered something. "You just reminded me. I still have to crash the bridal chamber!"
