Page said, “A couple of days ago, I passed by J City University and saw that the old restaurant we used to go to across the street is gone. There’s a coffee shop there now, but walking past still fills me with nostalgia. I reserved us a table there. I’ll be waiting for you—promise me you won’t let me wait in vain.”
Georgia didn’t give him a definite reply.
After a brief silence, Page hung up.
After breakfast, Georgia thought it over and decided to go meet Page.
He had left so abruptly back then, and their story had ended without closure. Now, twenty years later, it felt right to put an end to the past properly.
As she was leaving, Evan caught up with her, carrying an umbrella. His deep brown eyes were full of warmth. “Mr. Quintin mentioned that the ants in the yard are on the move. He thinks it might rain later—you should take this with you.”
Georgia couldn’t help laughing. “My dad just says those things to amuse Nana. We all have weather apps these days. Who still checks the ants?”
But Evan insisted, “Take it anyway, just in case.”
Georgia reached out and took the umbrella. “Thank you, Evan.”
“No problem. Come back early.” Evan’s gaze was gentle and bright with kindness.
Georgia nodded. “I will.”

When she arrived, Page was already waiting. Even though she had braced herself, seeing him again brought a rush of emotions she couldn’t hold back.
More than twenty years had passed. The man before her was no longer the one she remembered—he had put on some weight, his eyes had lost their old clarity. Perhaps a life of comfort had spared him from too many hardships, and he was still handsome, still gentlemanly, but he simply wasn’t the same man anymore.
In the instant their eyes met, memories came flooding back.
Georgia nodded. “I’ve traveled a lot. Life has been very full.”
Page’s gaze filled with admiration. “I often see news about your awards and exhibitions. Whenever I could, I would go and see them.”
Georgia was a bit surprised—she had held many exhibitions but had never seen Page at any.
Page smiled, as if reading her thoughts. “I always went quietly, without letting you know. It’s no wonder you never noticed me.”
Georgia nodded.
Page dropped his gaze and sipped his tea. “These years have been… neither particularly good nor bad. My work has gone well, but as for my family… I married someone I don’t love. There’s always been an emptiness, like something’s missing. My wife, she—”
“Page.” Georgia interrupted him. “Your life now has nothing to do with me. I don’t care if it’s good or bad, and I didn’t come here to listen to your story.”
