Sylvia nodded dazedly. “Yes, I brought it.”
The man took her hand and led her into the bedroom. “Then let’s do it today. Wash up and have breakfast—then we’ll go get the paperwork done!”
*
An hour later, Sylvia was filling out forms. Afterward, a staff member led her to have their marriage license photo taken. As she sat down, she still felt completely bewildered.
You couldn’t blame her—it was all too much. The last two days had brought such emotional upheaval, and nothing had gone as she’d expected.
Just yesterday, she’d come to say goodbye. Then, after thinking things through, she’d decided to stay in J City and wait for him—only for him to look at her and say he’d never leave her again.
The shock had left her dizzy with happiness.
After reading the note he left her that morning, she’d felt a sudden impulsive urge, but when it came to actually bringing up marriage, she hadn't hesitated for a moment.
Still, was he moving a bit too fast?
They’d only just talked about getting married an hour before, and now, one hour later, they were already handling the paperwork!
By the time the two of them stepped out of the registry office, red marriage certificates in hand, the midday sun overhead left Sylvia feeling a little lightheaded.
She turned to Gabriel. “We’re… married?”
Just yesterday, she was preparing to say farewell—and today, they were married.
“Yes. The real kind—no turning back now.” Gabriel smiled gently at her. “When do you want to have the wedding?”
“Huh?” Sylvia gazed at him, wide-eyed, and replied instinctively, “It’s too hot right now. Let’s wait until the weather cools down.”
“Whatever you say.” Gabriel squeezed her hand as they walked to the car.
“Where are we going now?” Sylvia matched her steps to his.
“Home. To tell my grandfather the good news.”
Sylvia finally began to regain her composure. “Isn’t it impolite that we just got married without telling either of our families?”
It went on for a while—a long, lingering kiss. At last, Gabriel propped his arm up on the window, his dark eyes locked on her. “Still feel like a dream?”
Sylvia’s lips were flushed. She gave him another quick peck and chuckled, “I’ve never done this before—probably made a fool of myself, Mr. Carnes.”
Gabriel raised his eyebrows. “Shouldn’t you be calling me something different now?”
Husband.
The word hovered on Sylvia’s lips, but as she looked into his eyes, she just couldn’t make herself say it.
Before today, that title had belonged to someone else, far away from her world. Even now that it was real, she couldn’t quite adjust.
He really did seem out of her league.
But Gabriel didn't push her. He simply leaned over and kissed her on the forehead before turning back to the wheel.
Sylvia tried her best to act casual, turning to look out of the window, but her heart was pounding—she was so happy she felt like she could float.

As the plot thicken. Adrian is done for and he can't try to control Norah, so he'd probably tattle to Janice who's gone for two weeks. Thank you soooo much for the updates....
