Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) novel Chapter 3231

She reached out for the takeout container. "It's fine, I can just heat it up myself when I get home!"

Gonzalez intercepted her hand. "Don't eat it cold. I'll make you something."

"You don't have to go to all that trouble!" Norah insisted politely.

"It's no trouble. I haven't eaten either, and it's a good way to thank you for watching the cat all night." Gonzalez rolled up his shirt sleeves and turned toward the kitchen.

Norah got up and followed him, blurting out, "Gonzalez, you actually know how to cook?"

As soon as the words left her mouth, she remembered the dinner he had delivered to her earlier. She looked at his broad back with a hint of suspicion and probed, "Did you already know I was the one living next door?"

The man didn't even blink, denying it flat out. "No idea."

"Then why did you bring me dinner?"

Gonzalez paused with his hand on the refrigerator door and looked back at her. "I saw the property managers over here the other day and knew a new neighbor had moved in. I just wanted to get off on the right foot."

"Oh, that makes sense."

Norah bought it.

"So you saw the dessert I left you?"

"Saw it and ate it!"

The more Norah thought about it, the more amazing the coincidence felt. She had bought an apartment on a whim, ended up next door to Gonzalez, and they had been exchanging gifts without even knowing it was each other.

She watched him rummaging through the fridge and asked, "So, what are you making to reward me?"

Aside from the first day Norah moved in—when he assumed she wouldn't be able to cook and prepped a meal to bring over—he hadn't touched the stove in days. The fridge only held a few eggs, two tomatoes, and some frozen microwave meals.

He looked back at her. "What have you been eating these past few days?"

Norah puffed up with pride. "I learned how to boil noodles and make scrambled eggs with tomatoes."
