Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) novel Chapter 3564

Marina slipped into the passenger seat. "Summer's asleep. She's calmed down a lot."

Carson nodded. "The drug will be completely out of her system by tomorrow. She'll be fine."

He reached over, gently brushing his thumb across her cheek. "Next time something like this happens, do not go charging into a room full of men by yourself."

The terrifying reality of what could have happened was finally crashing down on Marina. "I was just so worried about Summer. I completely acted on impulse."

She had been terrified for her friend, but she had severely underestimated the depravity of those men. She never imagined they would have the audacity to drug and assault a girl right inside the club where they had just performed.

"If you ever find yourself in trouble again, call me immediately," Carson instructed. His tone softened. "You did an incredible job stalling for time."

Thinking back to the horrific scene he had walked into, his chest tightened with lingering dread. Thank God he had shown up when he did.

Marina looked at him, genuinely curious. "Why were you even at the bar?"

Carson glanced at her, a faint smirk playing on his lips. "I saw Trixie's post on Facebook. When I realized a certain someone was out clubbing in the middle of the night instead of sleeping, I decided to drag her back home."

Marina arched an eyebrow. She pulled up her social media feed and finally saw the photo Trixie had uploaded.

In a twist of fate, that single post was the only reason she and Summer had made it out unscathed.

Carson shifted the car into gear. "Are we going to the Evert estate, or back to the apartment?"

It was incredibly late. Marina was hesitant to return to her family home at this hour, but if they went back to their shared apartment, she had a racing suspicion about what might happen next.

Before she could even answer, Carson's smirk deepened. He had already made the choice for her. The car pulled out onto the main road, heading straight for his apartment.

...

The moment they stepped through the door, Carson wrapped his arms around her from behind. Feeling the searing heat of his breath against her neck, Marina's entire body tensed up.

He pressed a soft kiss to her cheek, his voice a low rumble. "Do you want to know what Freddy said to me when I went back to get your phone?"

Her throat was so tight her voice came out raspy. "What?"
