Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) novel Chapter 3643

"You bastard, you finally answered!" Erin sobbed frantically on the other end. "Did you find Marina? Should I call the cops?"

Carson hesitated for a split second before saying firmly, "Don't call the police. I found her."

Erin froze, then immediately demanded, "Where is she? Is she okay? Where are you guys?"

"She's fine. I'm taking her to my place first. Go back to your hotel, and I'll call you tomorrow."

"I need to see her—"

Before Erin could finish, Carson hung up.

Furious, Erin nearly threw her phone into the street.

Carson held Marina tightly against his chest for the entire ride. He hadn't called the cops for two reasons: first, Marina hadn't been physically assaulted in the worst way, and second, he didn't want to subject her to any secondary trauma.

If the police got involved, Rowena would absolutely burn everything to the ground just to drag them down with her. No one would believe Marina hadn't been violated. The scandal of being assaulted by her own 'brother-in-law' would follow her for the rest of her life.

Right now, they had leverage over each other. Rowena wouldn't dare breathe a word of this.

Carson stared down at the girl in his arms, his thumb gently tracing the line of her brow. He pressed her cheek firmly against his own, suddenly realizing just how desperately he had missed her!

Carson took Marina back to The Riverside Apartments.

After laying her on the bed, he brought a hot towel and carefully wiped her face and shoulders. Seeing the bruises on her neck made the rage in his chest boil all over again!

Once she was settled, he sat on the edge of the bed, entirely unable to tear himself away.

Especially after what had just happened, he couldn't bear to let her out of his sight for even a second!

After a moment of hesitation, he kicked off his shoes and lay down beside her, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her tightly against him.

The familiar scent, the familiar warmth. All the memories of their intimate moments in this very room flooded his mind, bringing a dull, agonizing ache to his heart.

She used to smile so brightly in his arms. She used to hold him and tell him he was warm. She used to kiss him without prompting, and when the first rays of morning light hit the room, she would look at him with shining eyes and wish him good morning.
