Tasha voice came through the phone, broken and scratchy. “You’ll see if he’s interested. This is the Gibson family’s eldest daughter.”
Her camera focused on Alicia. As it moved, David’s signal cut out, freezing the image on the screen.
No sound came through. When Tasha turned the camera to Aria, David didn’t hear her introduction.
The screen froze just as Aria flung the teacup. Her face was covered in pure panic.
David glanced once and thought, This is the Gibson family’s eldest daughter? She’s nothing special.
Upon hearing the cup smash, Tasha quickly hung up and entered the room.
Aria was terrified. She had practiced at home for so long. How could she still mess up?
She should have just calmly poured the tea. Fancy flourishes were clearly not her friend.
Steven’s face didn’t change much, but his eyes were icy cold.
“I’m sorry, Old Mr. Burton.”
“It’s okay. As long as your hand wasn’t burned.”
Alicia rolled her eyes. After all these years, Aria really was hopeless.
She couldn’t let this useless sister ruin her future in the Burton Residence.
Alicia set down her chess piece and gracefully approached. “Old Mr. Burton, my sister is just nervous. I’ll serve this cup of tea.”
She sat cross–legged, flowing through each movement. Every skim, press, swirl, pour, flourish, unveil, settle, and return was smooth and effortless.
Her flourish was clean and confident. She handled the steaming water without flinching, keeping a calm, elegant smile.
Then, she held out the cup with both hands. “Old Mr. Burton, please enjoy.”
Aria was livid. How was Alicia capable of everything?
Tasha’s admiration for Alicia grew stronger. She was practically convinced this was the daughter–in–law Steven wanted. Even Steven’s furrowed brow began to relax.
Alicia chatted with him a bit, while Tasha’s warm enthusiasm practically screamed to finalize her and David’s marriage.
Alicia quickly found an excuse to leave.
Just as she stepped into the bathroom, rinsing her palms under cold water to soothe the burns, she heard the door click locked behind her.

He exuded a chilling aura that made her shiver. Instinctively, she said, “Mr. Burton, this is a bathroom…”
“Ms. Gibson, how is it that you’re at the Burton Residence? Lying in my bed and still worrying about my little nephew?”
“No, I… um…”
He stepped forward, pinned her against the sink, cupped her chin, and kissed her with forceful passion.
Even though the door was locked, this was the Burton Residence!
Alicia’s nerves screamed. Every fiber of her body tensed.
“Don’t… Austin–ugh!”
His gentleness was gone, replaced with dominance and hunger.
It felt like he was trying to drain every breath from her, suffocate her with the intensity of his kiss.
She reached out to push him away, but he scooped her up and laid her on the countertop.
The cold marble seeped through the thin fabric, sending shivers down her spine.
Still not satisfied, he pressed her against the mirror. The chill made her tremble.
Austin’s heated body pressed in. He lifted her hands above her head, urgently and hungrily kissing her.
The glass, polished by the servants, reflected the scene with great clarity, showing every intimate moment.
Knock, knock.
A voice came from the door. Aria called out, “Alicia, are you in there?”
Alicia panicked and shoved him away. Austin’s eyes still blazed with desire.
He looked terrifying, like a wild beast ready to devour her at any moment.
“Do you need something?” she hurriedly asked.
If one carefully listened, they would hear the slight tremor in her voice.
Aria lowered her voice. “Leave the Burton Residence now. Give up on David, or I’ll expose your little
secrets.”
She didn’t expect Aria to act so soon.
Alicia’s plan had been to provoke Aria into scrambling, all to marry into the Burton family in a way that would leave Aria fuming.
Since Aria had always tried to steal things from her, Alicia would show her just how miserable marrying a
