It was late. The entire floor was quiet, all the household staff already tucked away in their

rooms.

Ramona spoke in a hushed tone, trying to soothe her, “You don’t need to worry too much, Miss. That girl has a cold, aloof personality. She’s always done things her own way, never really cared about others. She grew up in a small, average household-no manners, no skills. Honestly? You could outshine her with one hand tied behind your back.”

Viola nodded.

Of course. She had studied jewelry appraisal and piano, all to please Gregory and Celestine.

Ramona went on, “She just got brought home. Naturally, they are overly attentive. They’re bending over backwards for her right now.

“That’s normal. After all, it’s been years, and she’s their biological daughter. They’re seeing her through rose-colored glasses. You, on the other hand, must not act too sharp or hostile right

now.

“Give it time. That girl will slip up. No manners, no class. Sooner or later, her bad habits will show, and the Master and Madam will grow tired of her.

“And when that happens…”

Ramona trailed off with a knowing look.

Viola understood. Her eyes gleamed in the dark, a flicker of something calculating flashing across them.

“Ramona, are the staff from the estate still assigned to us here?”

Ramona knew exactly what she meant. Most of the people with them now had come from the family’s estate-people loyal to Viola, handpicked for her.

“Don’t worry, Miss. Everyone’s at your disposal. If she thinks she’s walking in here unchallenged, she’s got another thing coming.”

“Good. From now on, I’m living here full-time. Make sure all the right people are in place.”

“Yes, Miss.”

Gregory and Celestine never had a daughter. They’d treated her like their own for years. That bond-built over time-couldn’t be replaced overnight.

And Cassian? He wasn’t exactly easy to get along with. The two of them had grown up under the same roof-practically childhood sweethearts-yet even now, he remained distant.

So what chance did an outsider have?

The Drayven family wasn’t a place anyone could just walk into and claim a spot.

The next morning, Gregory woke up early. He hadn’t slept much-the excitement of having his daughter back kept him restless through the night.

After washing up, he headed downstairs and was surprised to see someone bustling around in the kitchen.

“When did Viola get back?” he asked.

Ramona smiled as she answered, “She returned last night. Didn’t want to disturb Madam, so she didn’t stop by.”

you and

She sounded casual, but her words were carefully chosen. “She insisted I wake her at five this morning-I thought it was something important! Turns out, she wanted to make breakfast. Said it was a personalized, nutritious meal just for you and Madam.”

Gregory felt genuinely moved. His younger brother his wife had passed away early, leaving behind only Viola. He had long since treated her as his own.

He quickly walked into the kitchen to see for himself.

Right then, Viola was standing by the stove, deep-frying something. The glossy white tile in front of her reflected Gregory’s figure. She flicked a few drops of water into the hot oil.

Sizzle! Sizzle! Sizzle!

The oil hissed and spat.

She instinctively covered her arm with one hand and let out a soft yelp.

Ramona rushed over in concern. “Miss, are you alright? Oh no, it’s all red! Let me get some burn ointment.”

“I’m fine,” Viola said, smiling through it, completely unfazed. “It’s just a small burn. Even if it
