Chapter 33 At the Auction

Chapter 33 At the Auction

“If you like it, raise your paddle and bid,” Sabrina said. Because of her family business, she often came here with her father and knew the rules inside out. “Highest bid takes it.”

“I don’t dare,” Viola said softly. “I’m nervous. Can you help me?”

Viola had been spoiled since childhood and had never dealt with a scene like this. She could only turnto her friend beside her.

“No problem,” Sabrina replied, patting her chest confidently.

The Connelly family’s business had been thriving lately. Sabrina staying close to Viola was not without reason. What she valued was the background behind Viola, the Drayven family.

If she could latch onto that connection, her family’s business would only grow stronger.

Viola glanced around uneasily. Suddenly, her gaze stopped on the private elevator upstairs. A familiar figure passed by.

Surprise and joy flashed across her face. “Cassian?”

“Cassian’s here too?” Sabrina asked.

Viola nodded quickly. “Yeah.”

“Want to go over and say hi?”

Viola hesitated, then shook her head. “Forget it. I’m worried he won’t like seeing me in a place like this.”

There was a trace of unease in her expression. Over the years, she had always maintained the image of a well behaved girl.

“That’s ridiculous,” Sabrina said bluntly. Then she grew curious. “So how are things between you and Cassian? When are you two getting married?”

They were close friends. Each knew the other’s thoughts all too well.

Cassian being adopted into the Drayven family was no secret.

And Cassian was outstanding by every measure. Keeping things within the family only made sense

Viola blushed at first, then her gaze dimmed.

“He’s always been cold to me,” she said quietly. “So…”

Sabrina cut her off, clearly frustrated. “Are you serious? You have to make a move Cassian’s that kind of guy. Women in Valedawn who want him could line up around the river If you don’t act, you get nothing

She continued, “And you’re only siblings in name. If you don’t say anything, how would he know? You could wait forever and he’d still be distant.”

Chapter 33 At the Auction

Viola stared at her, eyes wide. “I… I should confess?”

Sabrina rolled her eyes. If you don’t, who will?

“But-

“No more buts,” Sabrina said. “The auction’s about to start. Once you get what you need, just follow my lead. Tonight, I’ll make sure everything’s clear.”

“Really?” Viola asked.

“Of course. But I have a condition.”

“What condition?”

“When this works out, you set up a meeting. Your father and Cassian. Just some business.”

Viola thought for a moment, then clenched her jaw. “Okay. No problem.”

Ten minutes later.

“The auction is starting!”

Amid shouting and cheers, the auctioneer walked onto the stage. The first item was brought out.
