Chapter 34 The Bidding War

It wasn’t completely useless.

At best, it worked like one of those overhyped detox supplements you find on drugstore shelves. The buzz? All marketing. Worse, the raw vermilion in it was an unprocessed mineral loaded with heavy metals -not something you should be wearing long-term.

Selling it was the best option.

Meanwhile, in the main hall, many people were staring at the bracelet with reddened eyes.

Everyone present came from powerful families. Longevity and extended youth were things the wealthy all chased after.

“Viola, this would be perfect for your grandmother,” someone said.

Viola felt the same. Margaret Drayven was over eighty and still in good health. Longevity was exactly the kind of hope people at that age valued most.

The auction officially began.

Paddles went up one after another. The price climbed rapidly, reaching nine hundred ninety thousand.

Viola bid several times but was quickly outmatched.

Seeing the item about to be taken, she hesitated, checked her bank balance, closed her eyes, and called out, “One million five hundred thousand.”

The hall fell silent.

Other bidders shook their heads. No one dared to go higher.

“One million five hundred thousand, once.”

“One million five hundred thousand, twice.”

“One million five hundred thousand, sold.”

“Congratulations,” the auctioneer said. “Please follow our staff to complete the transaction.”

Upstairs, the private room only showed a close-up feed of the item.

Asha popped a cherry into her mouth and nearly choked. “What the hell? A bracelet went for that much? Who bought it? Are they out of their mind?”

Seraphina shrugged, leaning back and closing her eyes. The Lunaria Core was the final item. There was still time.

Asha grinned. “How much did you pay for that bracelet back then?”

Seraphina thought for a moment. She vaguely remembered spotting it at a street stall. The vendor had charged about fifty.

“I don’t remember. Around fifty.”

Asha stared at her. “That’s insane.”

Downstairs, Viola finished the paperwork. There was almost nothing left in her account.

She held the bracelet tightly. This was her surest way to please Margaret.

Sabrina patted her shoulder and smiled knowingly. “Let’s go, Next step.”

“Huh?” Viola said, stunned.

“What do you mean, huh?” Sabrina teased. “I’m setting things up for you.”

Viola’s face flushed. She tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear. “You’re terrible. Will this really work?”

“Relax,” Sabrina said. “Leave it to me. I’ll make a call. Wait here.”

The auction was nearing its end.

“Mr. Drayven, Lunaria Core is next,” Victor said quietly.

Asha took a bite of her apple. “Seraphina, it’s almost time.”

Both opened their eyes at the same moment. Determination flashed through them. Tension rippled through the hall.

The auctioneer was visibly excited, holding the item and giving an animated introduction for a full ten minutes.

“Next item, the Lunaria Core. Prepare your bids.

“Starting price, two hundred thousand.

“Begin.”

Someone immediately added one million. The system announced one million two hundred thousand.

Another added two million. Three million two hundred thousand.

Someone else raised it again. Four million two hundred thousand.
