Her features were flawless, striking even without makeup, the kind of beauty that hit hard enough to make people pause.

What stood out more was her gaze. Calm, cold, and impossibly deep, like she was already ten steps ahead. watching everything without effort.

For no clear reason, Sabrina’s heart started racing. A flicker of fear crept up on her, sharp and unwelcome.

She forced herself to calm down. What am I even afraid of? It’s gotta be a coincidence.

Seraphina didn’t even know who she was. There was no reason to overreact.

Seraphina slowly withdrew her gaze, the corner of her lips lifting just slightly. Interesting. She had been bored, and now someone was volunteering to stir things up.

“How much do you sell per pound?” she asked.

The clerk glanced toward the register again and again. The young woman there kept her head down, offering no signal. The air felt tight.

After hesitating far too long, the clerk swallowed and said, “One hundred ten pounds.”

Seraphina nodded and stepped forward, scanning the counter. It only took a moment for her to realize she had overestimated the quality of the stock here.

Even through the wooden drawers, she caught the familiar, faint scent of dried herbs. She lifted her hand and pointed toward a drawer above the southwest corner of the cabinet.

“Frostroot. One hundred ten pounds.”

The clerk lit up instantly, enthusiasm spilling out. “Great choice. This Frostroot was cold-stored for ten years, top grade. Two hundred per pound. One hundred pounds comes to twenty thousand total.”

“Okay.” Seraphina replied evenly. “Issue the receipt.”

Tyler stood frozen, completely lost.

This shop clearly looks down on people. They’re big enough to push customers around, so why even give them business? Why hand over money to people like that?”

Seraphina took the receipt, gave it a quick glance, then said coolly, “Tyler, know anyone in consumer affairs? Report it. They’re selling expired herbal junk.”

Boom. The whole place went silent, like she’d just dropped a bomb. Every single person froze.

Yes. All she needed was the scent of the herbs to judge their quality, including whether they had expired.

The clerk was the first to snap out of it. She hurriedly checked the records. This batch of Frostroot had indeed expired.

Tomorrow was the shop’s scheduled inspection cycle. By then, this product would definitely have been pulled.

But today, it had been singled out, sold, invoiced, and now reported. The clerk’s face drained from pale to deathly white.

She desperately looked toward the register for help.

Sabrina finally couldn’t sit still anymore. She rushed out from behind the counter, her voice sharp and aggressive. “You’re vicious for someone so young. Who doesn’t make mistakes? You catch one slip and refuse to let go. Doesn’t your conscience hurt at all?”

“My conscience is doing just fine,” Seraphina replied, her lips curving slightly. “Yours, on the other hand, is remarkably good at looking down on people.”

She had already seen through it. The clerk had been acting under instructions.

She didn’t know who gave those instructions, but she could clearly sense the hostility. It had been aimed straight at her.

“You…” Sabrina trembled with anger.

“Tyler, make the call.”

“Got it.” Tyler replied.

Sabrina panicked, blurting out threats without thinking. “I want to see who dares make that call. Whoever does, I’ll have someone deal with them.”

Seraphina glanced at her, clearly uninterested. “Find a lawyer too. File a lawsuit for threats and intimidation. I have recordings. Demand triple compensation at market price.”
