She forced herself to remember the pain. It was all caused by Seraphina.
One day, she would return it a hundredfold. Just wait.

Once school started and no one was protecting Seraphina, she would join forces with her friends and classmates and crush that arrogance.
The next day at noon, Seraphina called Cornelius and set a meeting location.
The old man was excited, reminding her repeatedly not to forget the Voidflame Pill.
Of course she wouldn’t forget.
Before leaving, she also brought the pendant with her. That was the real purpose of the trip.
Twenty minutes later, outside Palmcrest, a black extended Rolls-Royce stopped in front of her.
The driver hurried out and greeted her respectfully. “Miss.”
She gave a small nod and gestured for him to open the door. A cane appeared first.
Then an elderly man in his eighties stepped out, white beard, healthy complexion, faint lines between his brows. When he saw her, his smiling eyes narrowed into slits.
At first glance, he looked like a kindly old man.
“Careful,” Seraphina said.
Cornelius chuckled, clearly pleased.
They had met years ago, when he was gravely ill and no hospital could diagnose the problem.
Disheartened, he traveled alone to clear his mind.
That was when he met a ten-year-old girl who had already mastered traditional medicine with astonishing precision.
Pure talent. Even Alaric had admitted defeat.
Under her treatment, the stiffness in his lower body vanished as if by miracle.
To show his gratitude, he taught her many things and hired renowned professors as private tutors.
At first, it was purely to repay her kindness.
Later, as they spent more time together, he realized she was truly gifted, sharp and quick to understand anything taught to her.
Lost in memory. Cornelius nearly stumbled. Seraphina caught him immediately.

He laughed. “Old age really isn’t forgiving.”
“Then slow down and rest,” she said. “Enjoy retirement.”
“No such luck, Cornelius muttered. “If only my family had someone like you.”

At that moment, inside a black Maybach at the corner of the road. pale blue eyes fixed on their retreaung figures, unmistakably surprised.
The driver stared as well. “Zachary, isn’t that Cornelius? And who’s the girl?”
Zachary tapped his head, eyes narrowing. Yeah. Why is grandfather with her?
“Sir, should we…,” the driver started, glancing at the rearview mirror. The car was already moving, heading toward a scheduled negotiation, but he was cut off before he could finish.
“Find out where they’re going?” Zachary asked.
