Chapter 59 Collision
“Seraphina, why don’t you just take over for me?” Cornelius said half-jokingly.

“Stop right there.” Seraphina shut it down without hesitation. All she wanted was to finish college in peace. On top of that, she already had more side projects than she could juggle.
“If not you, then who?” Cornelius pressed.
“The Smith family has plenty of people,” Seraphina replied evenly.
Cornelius snorted. “Plenty of bodies, sure. But talent? Not a chance. Give it a few years and they’d burn everything to the ground.” His tone carried more frustration than mockery.
He paused, then added, “There is one other person.”
Seraphina already knew who he meant. They’d crossed paths before. She answered casually, “Zachary?”
“That’s the one.” Cornelius sighed. “And just like you, he turned me down.”
The Hart family had been a mess for years, torn apart by internal power struggles and benefit conflicts.
Zachary, his biological grandson, had stayed deliberately on the sidelines because of it.
Seraphina didn’t fault him for that. She wouldn’t jump into that chaos either.
Besides, with Stratmoor Group backing him, whatever prestige the Hart family offered barely registered.
Without another word, Seraphina pulled a small black bottle from her bag and set it on the table.
“This is the Voidflame Pill.”
Cornelius’s eyes lit up instantly. The smile hadn’t even faded when she placed a second item in front of him.
His expression hardened on the spot.
“… How did you get this?”
Seraphina rubbed her temple. It was a long story, so she gave him the short version, laying out what had happened as plainly as possible.
Cornelius listened in silence.
When she finished, he asked, “What do you want to do with it?”
Seraphina smiled, rare and gentle. “Put it back,” she said. “Quietly. No one needs to know.”
“What?”
Cornelius nearly lost his breath. She was dead serious.

“Do you have any idea how complicated that would be?” he snapped.
“No, Seraphina replied honestly.
Cornelius bristled. “Don’t play dumb. You know exactly how hard that would be.”

She shrugged, unfazed. The semester was about to start, and she didn’t have the bandwidth to deal with something this messy. Handing it off to Cornelius was the most efficient solution.
Soon, the food arrived.
They ate and talked at the same time, the conversation stretching on. Seraphina later checked his pulse and adjusted his current treatment plan, refining it based on his condition.
Three hours later, they left the private dining room together.
Ding.
The elevator doors opened.
A familiar voice came from outside.
“Seraphina? Grandpa? …What a coincidence.”
They looked up. Zachary stood there in a white suit, polished and composed.
Coincidence, my ass. He’d clearly been waiting. He smiled easily, light-blue eyes sharp with interest as they landed on her.
“Well,” he said pleasantly, “fancy running into you again.”
Seraphina met his gaze and gave him a look that clearly said nice acting. Cornelius glanced between them. surprised. “You two know each other?”
“Yes,” Zachary answered.
“No,” Seraphina said at the same time.
Cornelius’s eyes gleamed. The smile he tried to hide failed completely.
“Grandpa, I’ll walk you to the car,” Zachary said smoothly. “Seraphina and I need to talk.”
“Go on, go on.” Cornelius waved him off happily. “No need to walk me. I’ve got legs. You two talk.
He took off so fast he nearly walked straight into the revolving door.
Zachary caught him just in time.
